  1. We do have evidence that players are willing to take less money than the White Sox offer. They have to pay a significant premium.
  2. And they are on pace for 103 after catching fire in July to be one game below .500. They will revert to the mean and most likely be between 105-110.
  3. What they are likely to reach this season.
  4. It’s weird that he’s berating people for not understanding his horribly constructed sentences.
  5. I got what you wrote but it would have helped had you not tortured the English language in that post. I can see why people were lost based on that sentence.
  6. Greg, Roberts on paper has an OPS+ less than 90 each of the last two seasons and he isn’t getting younger.
  7. It’s a weird flex made by some posters here. Getz keeping a guy that’s been a bum for two years and injured every year but one over his entire career shows what courage he has? Giving this guy $20 million is a step in the right direction?
  8. 90+ losses is better than 105+ losses. It still doesn’t mean you’re close to competing.
  9. On a per game average the Sox outdrew the Cubs in 1994. The Cubs, while finishing in fourth in 1993, had a fine season six games above .500 in 1993. https://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/majors/1994-misc.shtml Also nobody said that the pre-1994 botches were not problematic, where did you get that? The only thing that was said was that Reinsdorf nearly single-handedly ending the 1994 season was the driving force behind the White Sox never ever recovering.
  10. The numbers we drawn from baseball reference.
  11. Not sure what that proves. They played more than 2/3 of the season and the Sox significantly outdrew the Cubs in 1994 before Reinsdorf shut down the season.
  12. The Cubs did outdraw in 1993 by a small amount. The Sox outdrew again in 1994
  13. Certainly 91-92. I wouldn’t credit 93-94 with the new stadium.
  14. There is 100% probability they lose 100 this year. No way they go 31-34 the rest of the season.
  15. The Sox were outdrawing the Cubs 1991-1994. It wasn’t 1984 that broke them, it was Reinsdorf’s role in the lockout. They never recovered from the lockout.
  16. Good post but how did you list Reinsdorf’s flubs and leave 1994 off the list? That should be at the top.
  17. But we have evidence of other players taking less money than the White Sox offer so don’t assume just opening the checkbook changes things.
  18. Spoiler alert - 2026 is going to be another lost season.
  19. I don’t credit Reinsdorf with one World Series. Mathematically they should have won at least one over 45 years and should have appeared in three. He doesn’t get credit for winning one in a year when they traded Carlos Lee and Ordonez and nobody got hurt.
  20. Probably not zero % but they had been on WGN and had Harry for more than a decade while the Sox were keeping pace with them. It wasn't until post lockout that the Cubs put the Sox in the review mirror.
  21. 1990 the Cubs outdraw the Sox by 10% 1991 the Sox outdraw the cubs by 30% - new stadium 1992 the Sox outdraw the cubs by 24% 1993 the Sox and Cubs had nearly equal attendance. 1994 the Sox slightly outdraw the Cubs pre-lockout 1995 the Cubs are 20% higher - Sox 8 games under 500, Cubs 2 games over 500 1996 the Cubs are 32% higher - Sox 8 games over 500, Cubs 10 games under 500 1997 the Cubs are 17% higher - Sox 1 game under 500, Cubs 26 games under 500 Sosa - one all star appearance in 1995. Sosa was not "Sammy!" by 1997. Harry Caray went to the Cubs in 1981. What could have happened specifically to the White Sox in 1994 that led to such a dramatic change in attendance? The Sox never recovered from the Reinsdorf debacle in 1994. Even the 2005-2006 the Cubs outdraw the Sox. It's 100% the lockout that lead to the Sox never recovering Chicago market share.
  22. It’s like we are forgetting that Reinsdorf nearly singlehandedly caused the lockout in a year the Sox had a good chance to win the World Series. Sox fans didn’t forgive that, which had nothing to do with Harry or Sosa.
  23. Some had Moncada as the top rated prospect. They screwed him up. Of course the Sox could get in Tatis’s way.
  24. 5 out of 16 is not a lot to accomplish but this could get uglier as some of these guys hit inning pitched that they've never reached before. I used to think it would get bad when Roberts was traded but at this point trading him could be an upgrade.
  25. They may even have people that read Sox message boards.
