I agree w that strategy. If the offers escalate as the deadline approaches, it could get to the point where Hahn has to move one of Sale or Q for the future of the organization.

Sale is too valuable to move right now. In my opinion, Quintana should be just as valuable. Owed even less money than Sale and has one more year of control than Sale.
July 23, 20169 yr I would take Gallo, Profar, Brinson and at least 1 of Dillon Tate, or Matuella for Q....I'm sure most wouldn't but I'm not sure how many other teams are making better offers. Boston and Houston are probably the only 2 teams that could in my opinion.

Q might be 60-75% of Sales's value. But I am convinced Sale is an untouchable for this front office. Probably makes sense since most teams based on what they could/would offer would not be bidders.
July 23, 20169 yr No way I would trade Sale or Quintana. I might trade Fulmer after seeing hm pitch in the few games he has been in. Not sure why he needs all the French pastry in his wind-up but maybe that is detracting from his body control and consistency in locating pitches. The Sox put up the white flag for this season, but April 2017 is a long way off in baseball terms. A lot can be done to improve the team between now and then including changing the Manager and coaching staff. There may be some less obvious opportunities for a trade out there. The Nationals need an outfielder and bullpen help. I'd offer Melky and Duke (or Robertson) for Trea Turner.
July 23, 20169 yr I'm sure they are listening.. but it would l take levels of talent or production that teams probably will not give up. And that's what it should take. Some talented prospects are not enough for Chris Sale.. you need at least some proof of MLB production. Odor would have to be at minimum part of the package.

July 23, 20169 yr If Q continues to pitch well in the years ahead the Sox have options on him for 2019 and 2020. Profar will be a fairly young free agent in 2020 and Boras is his agent. Q has more years of control than Profar. Nuff said .

Your rotation next year if they are both traded is Shields-Rodon-Fulmer-Raunado-Turner/Beck. They didn't get anyone this year that is going to contribute as a starting in the next couple of seasons. You need to get at least two pitchers back for Sale and Q and hope that two of the four can be mid rotation types or better.
