April 13, 20179 yr First time in my life i could care less about the Cubs. Just another MLB team to me now after they won last year. Its weird.
April 16, 20179 yr they got bullpen issues. an overlooked part of their success has been how ridiculous their pitching has overperformed the last 2 years.

April 18, 20179 yr They're playing like s*** but we're gonna hear about Schwarber's bunt non-stop for the next 2 weeks

April 18, 20179 yr It's still too early to judge Cubs' slow start http://www.espn.com/blog/chicago/cubs/post...cubs-slow-start
April 19, 20179 yr So every single Cubs starter is down at least 1.5 ticks in velocity, with Hendricks and Arrieta down almost 3, and all 5 are in the top 20 in the MLB for velocity loss compared to last season. It seems pretty odd that all of them would experience such a big dropoff, so it has to be intentional, right? Are they easing everyone in after the long playoffs last year so that their arms are fresher later in the season?

How's that data look on the Indians side or the past Champions/Runner ups in the Series? I legit have no idea and it'd be interesting to see if that whole extra month really hurts in that regard.

I remember how much the Sox pitchers declined from 2005 to 2006.

And those October innings are much harder on the arm, because every pitch is that much more intense. I would assume the drops in velocity are related to the extra playoff work.

From 2015-2016, on the Mets Thor's velocity went up, Colon remained the same and DeGrom and Harvey saw similar dropoffs to the Cubs' SP. For the Royals, Ventura and Volquez stayed the same, Young's went up, while Cueto was down about 1 mph. So it seems like there's a mixed bag of results. I'll probably look at some of the other past Champions/Runner ups later. It's just weird to see Hendricks throw 84 mph fastballs out there today.

Like I said, I haven't looked it up so I was just intrigued to see what the data was on that. I also kind of just thought Hendricks was regressing to the mean after his season last year, didn't realize his fastball was that down. Edited April 19, 20179 yr by Rowand44
April 19, 20179 yr It needs to be said once in a while...wtf was Beane thinking trading Addison Russell?
April 20, 20179 yr I'm no statistician but how would Russell look on a lineup that isn't the Cubs? He's not a very good contact hitter so far in his career. Edited April 20, 20179 yr by Chi Town Sox

April 21, 20179 yr Hey guys, remember when Jake Arrieta came out of nowhere, started throwing 96 MPH, and dominating hitters? Hmm, that was head scratching too.
April 21, 20179 yr QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 21, 2017 -> 12:22 PM) So was this Wrigley girl flashing her chest a real thing? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dh6P_sHpCpY Yup, not very impressive either. Matter of fact, the b**** is gross.
