The fact is, if he were hitting, he'd make sense as a leadoff man with his OBP so much higher than his batting average. That being said, if he's hitting, you want him in a position to drive in runs and the leadoff spot isn't it. This is one of those Maddonisms that just isn't working.

May 9, 20178 yr The White Sox for most of the last decade would have been fairly happy to have an OPS of 700 at the leadoff spot. For the Cubs, compared to what Fowler did for most of last season, it's unacceptable. Granted, a month ago Kris Bryant was one of the worst hitters in baseball, it doesn't take long to reverse those numbers in the first half of the season.

I have actually read him being compared to Babe Ruth in multiple spots. That's a bigger stretch than Avi getting compared to Miguel Cabrera. He's going to have a hard time living up to the hype. He used to run a bit, and was a cover boy for BP after a crazy call up season.

Schwarber could have been good get for the Yankees too seeing as though could DH with the short porch in RF and see time at 1B and little in LF.
