June 14, 20178 yr QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 04:59 PM) Who will they replace them with? If it's the highly touted young players, you should hope they won't be a bad team. Otherwise the future is bleak. It's not. They will be fine (see above). They would have to deal Avi, Kahnle and Abreu to fall off a cliff. Edited June 14, 20178 yr by caulfield12

June 14, 20178 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 06:04 PM) The immediate future is pretty ugly. Again, it depends on who the Sox replace the traded players with. If it's just filler players then yes it will be ugly. If it's some of the more highly touted players, then they better hope it isn't ugly.
June 14, 20178 yr QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 06:07 PM) Again, it depends on who the Sox replace the traded players with. If it's just filler players then yes it will be ugly. If it's some of the more highly touted players, then they better hope it isn't ugly. None of the highly touted guys are really "ready". No one is screaming to be called up at this point. Now that might change in the next month, but as of today, those guys aren't exactly setting the world on fire.

Otherwise the future is bleak. You keep saying this and continue to not acknowledge there a maturity curve with young players. Just because a young struggles in year one does not mean he will be a bad player and it most definitely doesn't mean the future is bleak.

Just because a young struggles in year one does not mean he will be a bad player and it most definitely doesn't mean the future is bleak. See late 80's learning curve for Glavine, Smoltz and Avery. At any rate, without Avi, Leury, Davidson, Sanchez, Kahnle and Swarzak doing so well, yeah...it would be bleak/er. Holland and Pelfrey have done about as well as can be expected. June 15, 20178 yr That is the kind of loss I like: the young and/or tradable talent produced with the game blown by players who will not be on the team next year
June 15, 20178 yr QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 06:18 PM) You keep saying this and continue to not acknowledge there a maturity curve with young players. Just because a young struggles in year one does not mean he will be a bad player and it most definitely doesn't mean the future is bleak. Very true. But if they all struggle to the point the team is bad, it's an issue. They can have isolated struggles, they probably should, but they can't all be bad for the entire time.
June 15, 20178 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 15, 2017 -> 05:03 PM) Go Royals. Go Tigers. Go Mets. Go Cardinals. Go A's. Wins would be greatly appreciated
June 16, 20178 yr Marlins-Braves is the only suck vs suck series this weekend. If the Sox somehow swept the Blue Jays, they could go from 4 to 13 in a week. So don't do that.

June 16, 20178 yr Author QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 04:41 PM) I hope Q throws 8 shutout innings an a no decision loss... starting a 5 game losing streak. Yep...
June 16, 20178 yr 22 games to the break. 8-14 would make me happy. Dropping 5 or 6 to the A's would be nice too.
June 17, 20178 yr I just don't see this team finishing in the bottom 3 unless trades are made almost immediately. There is nothing to suggest this is one of the very worst teams in baseball.

There is nothing to suggest this is one of the very worst teams in baseball. Here's the issue though...who are they going to trade that is tearing it up so much that will cause us to lose more?
June 17, 20178 yr QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 09:23 PM) Here's the issue though...who are they going to trade that is tearing it up so much that will cause us to lose more? All of the bullpen glue holding this team together.
June 17, 20178 yr QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 07:26 PM) All of the bullpen glue holding this team together. If that happens, we will all be very pleased.
June 17, 20178 yr You still have Beck, Petricka, Ynoa, Jennings, Nate Jones, Burdi, Fulmer...or Lopez, Danish, etc. That's if they trade Robertson, Swarzak and Kahnle.
June 17, 20178 yr 8th The top 8 NL teams won, and the bottom 7 lost. A's beat the Yankees, so that's good.
June 17, 20178 yr Seems kind of pointless to follow this until after the trade deadline, no? The Sox will be mediocre-bad until then, and likely worse after.
