They might love him...but at this point, that type of signing probably isn't the best now that the ship is finally moving in the right direction after 12 years....

He is still hitting for power with 6 long ones. Certainly an aggressive assignment to AA for a 19 year old and his last 2 weeks have actually improved his numbersdrastically, but Sox fans would have been jumping off a cliff if Tatis was doing that in this organization. Tatis may end up being the real deal, and he no doubt would be a nice guy to have around, but this isn't some sure thing.

Teams are waiting for him to be released, so in reality if we were willing to pick up even part of his salary, we will give up nothing of consequence.

Even if a team is willing to pick up say a million dollars ("cash considerations") that is a plus for the Mets who are going to release him if they can't find a trade partner.
