He's the Gordon Beckham of pitchers.

It's an especially good comparison in that it was widely believed that Gordon's chances to be successful were squandered by his early call-up to the majors

You should like Shields.  Instead of keeping that pesky prospect they went for it and picked up a vet who knows how to win.  How great does that look now.

On the bright side, I didn't go to this game.

Oh god, it is officially meatball weekend in the City of Chicago.

They might not score 14 runs the next 5 games.

8 games

That's really not exclusive to Gio and Fulmer.

No, but it is their problem.

This staff has a huge problem with control and command.

Yep Lopez command hasn't exactly been great

Except he's been anything but a gas can. Right now, he'd be our All-Star.

yay for bunting...

Chatwood has an entirely different strike zone.

Rodon has had the same issue. Kopech probably will have it.

If it can be fixed, the staff can be amazing. If not...we are seeing it.

Pathetic...just get one hit

It's going to be time soon for Cooper to actually fix some starters. Seems his success has been with relievers lately.

I can only hope the media and fans mock this historically bad team all weekend. Embarrassing mismatch. If they are going to make Sox fans suffer, the front office should suffer as well.

Even the base ump has a different strike zone

What does that accomplish for the White Sox as an organization?

Hopefully relieve the bullpen of the huge burden he puts in them. The current bullpen have more of a future here than Fulmer as a starter, which is funny because this bullpen is garbage too.

Santiago does the same thing.

At this point in the development of Fulmer and they rebuilding Sox I think you just suck it up with the pitching staff and live with it. The hope is that they learn from experiencing failure and also gain mental toughness

That wind must be nasty because that ball looked like it was hit straight to right and it ended up going to Leury

yup,i thought it was gone easily.

IMO - Fulmer needs to be demoted, not because of any reason pertaining to the team right now. A White Sox starter getting tuned up in 2018 is neither here nor there.

However, he HAS to be mentally shot at this point. There's no way he isn't. This is counterproductive. He's not going to figure anything out at this level. This becomes more damaging with every outing. Let him work on his command in Charlotte, get batters out in the process, get him back on-track mentally and bring him back on-board later in the season.

Fulmer must be sent down ... period. For his sake. Sign some independent league arms for grins.

One of the clearest signs that Fulmer is too early on his developmental path is how frequently he doesn't just miss in a location, he misses it 2-4 pitches in a row all in the same place.

Why wouldn't you want them to win?

I think a strong argument can be made to try developing Fuller as a reliever and doing so soon.  He can still be valuable coming out of the bullpen and we certainly could use help there.  I just don’t see how anyone who has followed Carson’s career could honestly believe he is starting material.

Inconsistent strike zone from home plate umpire is not helping Fulmer

I honestly imagine Fulmer goes down for Kopech or Rodon anyways.

He got lit up in inning 1. What would make you believe he is a reliever?

It isn't like he has command of one or two pitches and it's the others that get him in trouble. Until he learns to throw strikes, he blows no matter what you do with him. And on those rare occassions he actually has an idea where the ball is going, he's a pretty good starter.

was his command this atrocious in college?
