The Portland White Sox has a nice ring to it

Please Please Please!!!!! (Since I just moved here.) ?

If they weren't locked into a contract for the next 10 years on that stadium, we might actually be talking about this. The Rays seem an obvious candidate, maybe Oakland as well, those are the 2 main stadium issues right now.

With the amount of money they can get for franchise fees, my best guess is if there's new locations they will be expansion, not anyone moving.

Who is they?  The White Sox.  They wouldn’t move to Portland bro.

We are talking about something like $30 million per team in franchise fees.  I am sure they are going to want to expand, which is why they are working so hard to get OAK and TB stadiums taken care of first.

So where would the second team be? Vegas?

I'm hoping Indianapolis, but I would think Charlotte would be an option too.

 

There is supposedly a deal in the works for the Rio Casino to be sold, tore down, and a MLB stadium built on the site.   Would make sense for Vegas and Portland to be expansion teams together.

Yea @BobDylan lives out there and told me the same thing. Still one of my places to go visit list.

A couple of years ago, you would have thought a place like Mexico City would have had a shot, but that's no longer in the cards with the political situation, or even a Caribbean country.

Buffalo, Louisville, Charlotte, Nashville and Indy were other names you would hear historically, but as much recently.

MLB really seems to be considering the possibility (at least) of going back to MON, but two West Coast teams, that's the most logical play in terms of scheduling and demographics/population growth.

You are banned from making anymore crazy statements ?

With sagging attendance, baseball should not be expanding. But money makes decisions.  Two new expansion teams will help them water down the product even more. Tampa Bay was a poor expansion choice and a new stadium will not solve their attendance woes.

Rising TV deals > sagging attendance.

I'm likely moving to Portland next year so this is great news to me.

Chicago is too big of a market. Portland is 1/4 as big as Chicago so it makes no sense to leave Chicago for a market with many fewer people and money (specifically companies to buy sponsorships). 

It’s akin to leaving Chicago to move to Cincinnati.
