To think they just made this trade just hoping it may move the needle with Machado would be hard to believe. IMO, if this doesn’t work, they should be banned from playing anything but circus music at GRF in 2019. When you are down and feeling g blue just whistle. Always look on the bright side of life.

Please. Because it’s not helping at all if we just turn around and dump Abreu to save money. UNLESS THAT MEANS HARPER OR MACHADO. Biggest point is we are helping the Indians offload even more salary...which opens their competitive window into 2021 and 2022 depending on what they get back for Kluber and who else they can sign. Their only bad remaining contract is Kipnis, and that’s only for 2019 with a buyout for 2020.
December 15, 20187 yr What's up with raBBit is that he's probably right. Not definitely, but probably. It takes a long time to wash the stink of failure off a team, and this offseason will likely end up showing just how far you can go and still fail.

December 15, 20187 yr It’s been speculated Abreu might have more value than we’re thinking. If that’s the case I think we’d be surprised by the return.
December 15, 20187 yr Is Call really a fringe prospect? Seems kinda mean. He has a decent shot to make a roster eventually, fringe prospect to me means some crappy a baller.

This is the White Sox doing literally every thing they can to win this. If they go down, they are going down swinging. I can't ask anymore of them.
December 15, 20187 yr Is this really for Call? Damn. Alonzo should have been close to free. I was looking at Call as a future trade piece for somebody good.

Haha it would be nice to see a 1B help guys like Timmy and Moncada with the throwing errors though. Machado is already damn good at 3B so I don't worry about him in that regard if he signs here.
December 15, 20187 yr Last time that I was so emotionally invested in a free agent signing was when all the signals were pointing to the Sox signing Tori Hunter, then he went to the Angels.
December 15, 20187 yr It would be less risky if they weren’t helping our main divisional rival get better simultaneously.

I remember thinking the Sox would land Cespedes. Worked out for the best but really wanted him at the time.

Why on earth would machado choose us over the yankees? Why would harper choose us over the dodgers? All they have to do is be in the ballpark in terms of $$$ and sox are screwed. Sad but fucking true. Sucks to suck. The rebuild will need to produce multiple world series contendors before we are actually considered for top FAs. Theres a lot of work to do to dig out of the suck hole.
