Covey Sent Down

Featured Replies

Supposedly sent down with Anderson’s return. Looks like Ruiz is here to stay.

I'd rather the guy that was pretty good in out of the pen in Birmingham than Covey.

thank God!

Good, at least Ruiz has some success in AA as a reliever posting 55K against 19 walks with only 33 hits in 45.1 innings.   How'd he look this spring?

I like it.

Ok, but this does not negate Renteria's bad move of not leaving in Nova and bringing in Covey and Fry with a 2 run lead in the 8th. There was more to blame than Covey in that loss.  Not dwelling on it, but just pointing out a fact.

Not disagreeing, it was a terribly managed game. At least the Sox don’t see any value carrying Covey on the current roster construction.

So this is them admitting Renteria used the last guy out of the bullpen in a high leverage 8th inning situation. Terrible.

Let's count the number of guys they go through in bullpen. He's No. 1 to be sent down deservedly so. He's really mediocre/awful.

Covey is not a high leverage reliever but they wanted to try him there so whatever...If he ever comes back up, it should only be as a long man

It's a really small thing but I also wonder why they even bothered to tender Covey a contract.  He's wasting a 40 man spot now.

Covey came to life last year in Charlotte as he posted a 2.33 ERA in 38 innings. Couldnt do the same in the Majors, but maybe worth hanging on to for now, unless there is a better player that needs to occupy the 40 man.

He used a groundball pitcher to try to get a ground ball in a double play situation.  I wouldn't look at it much deeper than that.

I'm pretty pumped about Hamilton being healthy, hopefully they ease him back in to make NJ the last man in the pen.

He probably is going to take a month at least to get into shape.  He never really had a spring training.

That's who I can't wait to see back up.

I'm not religious, but praise Jesus! LOL.

May he be forever banished to Charlotte during the remainder of his days with the White Sox organization.

Doesn't there need to be one more move, if they're activating 2 players? Doesn't someone else need to go down?

Hamilton was sent to AAA.

Covey was sent down so that Anderson can come back.

Hamilton went to Charlotte, not Chicago.   Anderson is active and Covey is down to replace him.

I didn't see that Hamilton was sent to AAA.

Seems like they have short leashes for player performance this year. Who gets the boot for Santana then? Ruiz? Banuelos? Frare?

I wonder if they might try Covey in the rotation in Charlotte one more time.

Covey time on Sox should be over
