Rendon thread

Featured Replies

"The offer to Rendon, in contrast, is structured similarly to the seven-year, $210 million deal the Nationals gave to pitcher Max Scherzer prior to the 2015 season. The deferrals, according to these people, are to be paid off within the seven years after the contract expires."

  • Yeah 3B seems like a pretty low priority target. I know Moncada can, and has said he would, play anywhere, but that doesn't mean they SHOULD move him.

  • LOL

  • Didn't we learn anything last offseason? Signing Anthony Rendon isn't up to Rick Hahn. That's above his pay grade.

Give him 8/250 then hire Joe Maddon so he can play RF and 1B.

I know Boras won't take that. But for a guy who will turn 30 before the allstar break next year, it's hard to imagine anyone offering much more than that. As much as I get on the Sox for being cheap - I wouldn't want them offering Rendon more than that.

I don’t see him being a target.

He would be a dream acquisition. Playoff experience, amazing production and you move Yo to RF where he would be pretty great. Solves all the issues other than catcher. But at that price it won't happen.

Deferrals make it much different. Its basically 14 years 210 million. This is the same shit they did with Harper. The nats have a history of offering big money but not nearly as big as it sounds as they defer a lot of it making it a much smaller offer per year.

I just don't like the idea of moving Moncada off 3B after his great year.  #1 priority should be to use the $ to get pitching!!!

I don't know, I think Maddon is to old to play RF!   LOL

I don't think Rendon is really an option.  Obviously you can make good players fit, I just think the $250M it would require could be better spent spread among multiple players.

Unfortunately yeah, he is not a fit for this team.  Yo isn't moving to RF.

Yoan isn't moving.  But Rendon could play 2B.  Trade Madrigal for RF or pitching.  I wouldn't do it, but its a possible solution.

He could also play 1B. Not going to happen though

Considering we drafted a 1b and we promised we were going to extend a 1b who doesn't like moving to DH, that's a worse option than 2b.

Rendon hasn't played 2B in like 4 years.

We have obvious holes to plug at DH, RF and Starters.  Don't waste time and money where we have exceptional talent already.

Rendon's sister and adopted Shnitzu live in Hodgkins so this is pretty much a done deal after the World Series.

I think Rendon is a guy the nats keep.

Lets not monkey around, get Rendon and Rizzo. R & R. The two best hitters on the market.

Rizzo isn’t a free agent, but you knew that already.

Ok, not yet, he has a team option 16.5 mil l, 2 mil buyout...did that change?

No, but why would the Cubs buy him out?

I guess your right. New manager, maybe, cut costs? They probably will pick up the 16 mil. and sign him. So much for wishful thinking.

LOL

The time for this move was before Moncada converted to 3b and liked it. IMO, the ship has sailed on a big 3B acquisition.
