Number 6 prospect who’s only a year younger than the MLB 24 year old we acquired. In fact, their splits are pretty similar, except one did it in Texas. The other in Winston Salem. Let’s put this in perspective people. Good god.
YoYoIsMyHero
In a vacuum Walker for Mazara is whatever. I just think you could have used Steele Walker as a piece in a much better trade.

When he says that player is 22-year-old Rangers outfielder Nomar Mazara, people immediately start to wonder what he knows that we don’t. For those who don’t know who Bill James is, he is basically the O.G. of baseball analytics. He revolutionized the game and its use of advanced stats and sabermetrics. James, on a recent MLB Network interview, said “I love Nomar Mazara. I think he is a guy who has a chance to be a triple crown winner.” Incredibly high praise from one of the most respected analysts of all time. However, it’s also a little perplexing considering Mazara hasn’t exactly dazzled in his first two major league seasons. That was 2 seasons ago. 2 seasons later he still fucking sucks.

I think we should all wait and see what’s next instead of going nuts. Rather see Mazara than Kole in RF. What could possibly be next? We just traded a top 10 prospect for a guy with <2 career fWAR over four seasons. I can’t even imagine what a good player will actually cost us via trade. I’m literally speechless at how bad this move is. What the fuck is the money going to be spent on at this point?

Chisox378
Of course Sox in love with a player that walks 30 times a season and strikes out over 100 times, fits right in!

Walker is 23 and in Winston Salem posting similar stats as Mazara who’s been in the majors for several season and is 24. One sucks. The other is a travesty to lose. SMH... kevo880
844 OPS vs righties last season. As long as he’s only playing in the platoon role then I like it.

Eminor3rd
Sign Kole Calhoun for the same salary and give up nothing, end up with a better player.
TheTruth05
I honestly would have rather kept platooning Leury/Engel in RF.
Balta1701
Rick Hahn Special.® High priced, short control return, long term control sent out, convinced themselves he's worth more than his performance shows.

Would have rather explored Marte and Nikki tho This Mazara / Walker comp is bizarre and needs to stop. I get they both struggle against LHP, but that’s where the comparisons end. They get obsessed with their flier targets that they think will turn into studs and never get over them. Sometimes it’s better to move on to bigger and better players. The freaking tunnel vision they have on some bad players is simply ridiculous.

With Robert, Madrigal, and Grandal we will be more dangerous than last year. Edited December 11, 2019 by smellysox
