  • Another pitcher off the market. What the hell is Hahn waiting for? Why aren’t we signing any of these guys? Oh wait, he signed with the Sox? Then what are we doing signing this washed up piece of

  • On the bright side, people have to stop calling Giolito “Gio”.

  • How anyone could be mad about this move is just so silly.

This is a move I really don't like for the 2nd starter spot, but in reality it's probably not much worse or better than any of the other bums.

His numbers were actually better than I thought last year. Oh well, hope he’s the 2nd arm we get.

Haha predicted by many on here

hahah

I was literally about to post the exact same thing. His numbers the past two years are WAY better than I remembered. In my mind he pitched 5 games for the Yankees and gave up 50 runs. In reality, he pitched zero games for them lol and was actually solid in Milw.

1.4 fWAR in 87 innings. Decent enough peripherals, actually better than Keuchel's. They could do worse as Nova replacement.

Sure. Why not. Hope we grab another arm too though.

Nice - totally cool with Gio as our #5 for the first couple months.

Felt like he was wild all the times I watched him, but he really wasn’t

Now this would be funny...once...twice...third time he will actually pitch for us?

His FIP's the last three years:

4.04, 4.16, 3.93.

He's actually fine as the second acquisition. I would have preferred a higher ceiling younger guy, but I get banking on the safer veteran to fill a hole for a few months.

Welcome back. Solid veteran (presuming he is our #5/depth move).

I'm excited to finally see him pitch in a Sox uniform.  No problem with this as one of the moves for SP.

I like it. We need a lefty in the rotation and he adds depth.

We could do far worse from a hopefully fifth starter

I like the move, as Gonzalez is probably the best backend starter still on the market and gives us a left hander in the rotation. Should not be more than a reasonable one year deal.

Get Ryu/Keuchel now and this off-season won’t be a total disaster.

I agree.  As a 5th starter this is a very good signing.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I CALLED THIS!
