December 19, 20196 yr How fast before they trade him? (I couldn't help myself) Edited December 19, 20196 yr by Sleepy Harold
December 19, 20196 yr Robert Murray @ByRobertMurray Sources: #WhiteSox closing in on a deal with free-agent pitcher Gio Gonzalez.
December 19, 20196 yr This is a move I really don't like for the 2nd starter spot, but in reality it's probably not much worse or better than any of the other bums.

In my mind he pitched 5 games for the Yankees and gave up 50 runs. In reality, he pitched zero games for them lol and was actually solid in Milw.
December 19, 20196 yr 1.4 fWAR in 87 innings. Decent enough peripherals, actually better than Keuchel's. They could do worse as Nova replacement.

Felt like he was wild all the times I watched him, but he really wasn’t
December 19, 20196 yr Now this would be funny...once...twice...third time he will actually pitch for us?
December 19, 20196 yr His FIP's the last three years: 4.04, 4.16, 3.93. He's actually fine as the second acquisition. I would have preferred a higher ceiling younger guy, but I get banking on the safer veteran to fill a hole for a few months.
December 19, 20196 yr I'm excited to finally see him pitch in a Sox uniform. No problem with this as one of the moves for SP.

We could do far worse from a hopefully fifth starter I like the move, as Gonzalez is probably the best backend starter still on the market and gives us a left hander in the rotation. Should not be more than a reasonable one year deal.
