Shorter term guy like Lynn makes sense because that gives time for next wave to develop and compete for spot in '22. Who knows maybe a year in the pen and Lopez might get himself together enough to rejoin the rotation. Over the next year, I think Lynn is the better pitcher compared to Woodruff as well. Theoretically, given his paltry salary next year, Sox could use him as trade bait and recoup some of the prospect talent if the Sox are ready to go Gio/Keuchel/Kopech/Cease/Dunning at some point as well.
