While I'm definitely not going to jump to any conclusions,  I'm literally never going to be hanging my hat on any big free agent signing with the Sox. Anyone who does is foolish.

At least you know now.

Certain posters here when the sox sign good players and hear Tony was a positive in the process:

  • I’m sorry but I don’t have an hour to read this. I read the first line and I assure you, Hendriks would be a great get.

This is good. Means resolution should come soon with him. Sox will either get him or move on to other targets but at least it's moving.

Knew it years ago.

If I knew for sure they would spend it, I think I’m more intrigued by a cheaper relief option and other upgrades than maxing payroll for Hendriks.  However, with the rumors of trades the last few days, I have no idea what to expect now.

Trevor Rosenthal is the correct answer. He is an old, ineffective guy Tony may still remember as a Cardinals draft pick while he was there.

He is also a lot cheaper, so Jerry may all Tony to pull the trigger for $2M-$4M, or $0.5M-$1.5M prorated once the cancelled regular season games are factored.

Looks like Jerry cheaped out again. Then Vinnie Duber and the rest of the water carriers will try to convince everyone that the Sox made the right choice by not signing Hendriks. What else is new.

Ineffective?

I think it’s more I doubt their ability to win a  bidding war. They will offer what they deem is fair and if it requires extensive negotiations, that’s when they lose ground.

But we won the bidding war for Adam Eaton ?‍♂

Tweets from Mark Feinsand and Robert Murray now too. His agency is doing work today.

So your top non-hendriks relievers are:

Treinen
Colome
Shane Greene
Rosenthal
Yates
Hand

Bruh you just know that liam is signing with the jays on a very reasonable contract now and jr and co will shrug and be like 2nd place!!!!

Yes, even more so than Dallas Keuchel in Game 2

Old white guys Tony can remember seems to be the lone player acquisition philosophy since A.J. Hinch Tony LaRussa was hired.

Jerry aims to please.

excited to see where soxtalk falls - fatalism or demanding that this is a plant to drive up sox price

I never wanted Hendriks because if they whiffed on him maybe they'll sign Brantley or something idk.

Fatalism! Fatalism! Fatalism!

It might be a plant to drive up a price. But not the White Sox price. I think agents know they aren't going to maneuver their way to an extra $10 million from them.

No harm in trying though.

It might work on some other team. If the White Sox haven't bid enough for him by now, chances are, they aren't getting him.

So who's next... Colume? Brad Hand?

He probably met with the Sox already or will in the next few days. I'm not putting much stock in him visiting Toronto just yet, other than there is interest. Players take visits during free agency all the time.
