Finally some fucking news!  Move over Padres, the Sox are now officially in the spotlight!

In all seriousness, this agreement is exactly what projections had him getting via arbitration.

Good deal for the Starting RF of 50% of Sox games. I really hope last year wasn't an illusion, he was really solid last year and he needs to be in 8th and 9th innings in LF in every game with a lead. 

I like how Engel plays. He’s a good athlete and could be a late bloomer which is a lot better that that fucking idiot Ricky ran out to rf last year.

Love our toolsy boy. Hopefully the Sox have learned from their “draft a high-walk, low-K college player” philosophy and keep picking up more interesting prospects

I love me some Adam Engel.  

I'm thinking Engel makes most of the starts in RF next year. Eaton will probably end up being as useful as Jon Jay was for us.

Adam1 will be fine but Adam2 was our Dirtbag Of The Year.

Don’t overlook Eaton’s other potential use, which is to passive-aggressively lecture the clubhouse about “what Skipper wants/says”, while shaking his head, folding his arms and staring at the floor.

Talk about a steal.

Not the biggest Engel fan, but that deal is solid for a backup outfielder.

His salary is 34% of what they paid Jay.

Bargain.

I was hoping for a long term deal to keep him on the southside for the next 5-8 years.

I don't see how anyone can fault this move.  Bargain!

For the record, Engel is in his first year of arbitration eligibility.  His deal was always going to be cheap.

This must of been the deal all of the "insiders" were saying the Sox were making a lot of progress towards the other day.

Renteria was under pressure or at minimum, felt pressure to start Hahn's boys, Mazara and Encarnacion.

Remember, Hahn could have made the decision to bring  up Vaughn and Collins, but didn't . That pretty much set the tone for the last 10 games of the regular season and the play-offs.  Fly the white flag, Ricky gets stuck holding it and Hahn walks away as the hero.
