La Stella to the Giants

Featured Replies

If the Sox are going to add another bat, they should get a corner OF to 1) push Eloy to DH as much as possible and 2) guard against an Eaton injury, because it's easy to put a guy like that at DH.

I believe the rumor that the Sox are reconsidering Mazara.  For $2-3M I'm okay with that.  I think he suffered from COVID, just like Moncada.  Would I be happy about it?  No, but he's better than Luis Gonzalez and whatever minor league garbage they have already signed or are planning to sign.  And this whole offseason has already been a giant abortion anyway.

Not really, only 9 games and 6 starts in 4 seasons.  Cabrera's play it before though not since 2018 but he did play it 75 times combined 2017 & 2018.  Really like that he's a SH and nice OPS from left side.  More versatility.

I think I would be ok with it at that price as well. And if he sucks, you bring up Vaughn.

I'm actually surprised he hasn't sign with a rebuilding team yet.

I was just thinking that the Sox should go ahead and re sign Mazara AND Rodon at this point because I don't think ownership is going to spend any more serious money. They're both lefties and there aren't that many on the team. Sign them to 1 year deals and let them try to rebuild their value.

Odds are pretty high that it wouldn't even a major league deal to start with so they could save a roster spot.

We have Leury and Engel. Why would we want Mazara on anything other than a minor league deal?

Why do you think Mazara had covid?  No indication that's true.

The Sox are pretty much set other than filling in around the edges for depth.

Prepare to report for Spring Training men.

Okay thanks!  A little shadowy but, if true, Mazara probably didn't want it to be known.   Though its still pretty odd that he only missed a week when quarantine was 14 days.

Really wanted LaStella but good for him holding out for and getting a starting gig.

If the Sox signed him, I would've said it was their best move of all the offseason. As mentioned previously, he would've filled so many holes from one roster spot.

I'd rather them go after Miller than Cabrera because Miller is 4 or even 5 years younger and he mas more positional flexibility.
