IMO try to trade Grandal for Blackmon, kicking in a lower-end prospect or two if necessary due to the amount remaining on Grandal's deal.  It's some immediate salary relief for COL.  Or maybe Grandal

  • I'm going to take the Jack Parkman approach and assume that Eloy is actually out for three years now.

That motion would be the one where he could have torn his pec. Usually the shoulder goes first though.

Would that be a season-ending injury needing surgery?

Say sike right now

Probably not surgery. Repairing a muscle is like tying to pieces of spaghetti together. It rarely works. The 3 months to 9 month timeframe would be reasonable for a return depending on the severity of the tear.

I would think so. Didn't Frank tear his which ended his season?

It's more likely a shoulder injury. But the pec injury is possible.

Wasn’t it a tricep for Frank?

Ehat injury was it that Avi had early in the season that one year?

Avi had a torn labrum, which IMO is more concerning long-term.  Tends to sap power.  Hoping it's not shoulder stability.

Ahhh correct. You're right.

Man, this sucks.  I am not overly hopeful at this juncture.  Posted this video in the other Eloy thread, but this is a doctor analyzing the video and its not very encouraging.

If he’s out for the season sign me up for Cespedes.

Gonna need more than that if he’s out for year

Get a LH bat. No more excuses. Get one. Period.

I really don’t know what direction the Sox can go if Eloy is down. I really think they will miss the playoffs unless they do something drastic which I don’t think they will. It really sucks.

Yes.

Yes.

Whats the realistic best case scenario in terms of missed time if its just the shoulder and not pec?

Not drastic, but trading for Tauchman makes sense.

8 clubs have been in contact with the Yankees, gotta imagine we are one of them.

2-4 weeks if it was just a subluxation and none of the primary passive stabilizers (ligaments, labrum) were significantly injured.

Worst case surgery and 9 months.

Sign Cespedes and trade for Tauchman.

Sox snakebitten again!

This is still a top 5 AL offense without Eloy I believe. We should still make the playoffs with a good offense, great bullpen and good 1-3 SP (quentionable back end).
