Shields had negative fWAR except for his final season, and missed close to a half season. Keuchel dropped off from last year but still positive at 0.2. I thought Keuchel was overpayed and didn’t (still don’t) want him to vest in 2023, but he is giving the team by and large what was expected. 5+ innings, 2-3 runs per outing. Even a 4.5 ERA is valuable in this year with limitations on Kopech, Crochet. Cease and Rodon also need to carefully navigate this full year based on previous innings pitched and Rodon’s injury history.

Keuchel gives up a lot of grounders and doesn't give up a lot of HR which is what is keeping him from being Shields bad. He's getting knocked around a lot though, they're just singles and doubles rather than HRs. The difference between a flyball pitcher and a groundball pitcher.

Dallas Keuchel is awful(Shields bad) and people are lamenting his contract by June 15th. Sox continue to throw him out there to get lit up because dollars, and it ends up costing them a playoff spot. Rodon finally shows why he was the 3rd pick in the draft, just in time to go get paid elsewhere. Cease shows signs of improvement. Better K%, fewer walks but ERA/FIP around 4.00. Kopech and Crochet don't get enough innings out of the bullpen to get stretched out next year, making them both pretty much career relievers. I did pretty well here. Especially about Keuchel and Rodon Edited October 16, 20214 yr by Jack Parkman

Madrigal's .305 is not that far off from the .319 Gurriel hit and won the batting title with . He can win one in the future if he stays healthy. Edited October 18, 20214 yr by CaliSoxFanViaSWside
