We had all the boomers whining on the west coast 9pm start. Now all the zoomers whining 10am too early.

  • Even Yermin asked not to pitch to Grandal

This is what he’s been around since the injury

And honestly I'm glad he's at least that high again. Remember when he was only throwing 93-94 post TJS?

Might be time to have a Collins/Gio pairing.

Pretty soon the entire staff is going to prefer pitching to Collins

Well, it might be the worst thing ever not to have an ace...unless it’s going to be Rodon or Kopech, not many candidates.

Madrigal’s first big league triple.  Wrapped around that RF curve.

Maybe Madrigal should get Giolito's long term deal.

Let Mercedes give it a try

Again less about results today and more just him being a two-pitch pitcher.  Just not ready for them to pay him like an ace while he has a few years left on his deal.  Some on here were acting like not extending him was the worst thing ever.

He has primarily become a two pitch pitcher and had great success.  Not sure if that is the answer or not but it has worked for him.  Adding the slider or curve is the key if he is going to get deeper into games on a consistent basis or days like today.

At what point is the Grandal CERA thing no longer SSS? Or do we just continue to downplay CERA as some fluky stat not worth paying attention to?

You can't blame Grandal for Lucas not having anything. No amount of smart pitch calling or framing could have saved him today.

Honestly refreshing to see Madrigal NOT try to take home on that ball that got away Vazquez. Feel like last year he was pushing to make everything happen and would've ran into an out.

How’s it been this year compared to Collins?  Pitching overall has been great so hard to complain....yet

Not sure. All I know if Giolito’s ERA is nearly 6 again (yes, I know today’s start skewed it) but if he ends the season with like a 4.5-5 ERA it certainly makes you wonder if the catcher and pitch calling has any impact on those results...

Dodged a bullet with some broken fingers there for Eaton... damn.

This is also the Red Sox at home.  Any banging or apple watches involved.  Tipping his pitches is the only way you can somehow figure out a good changeup from a fastball even if its 91-94.

Hopefully, he is getting comfortable and learning.

Looks more to me like someone who’s frustrated his velocity is down and it’s causing him to overthrow, which has hurt his fastball command.  We’ve seen a lot less high fastballs for him this year it seems.

Atta boy Eaton!

2 run shot here and we're in business lets go Luis!

Eaton not giving up...at least.

Nick the Stick and Spanky coming through!

a couple more this inning and it gets interesting

Jesus Christ.... grandal caught his last start too. Went pretty well.

Gio had nothing today. Absolutely nothing. It happens. Hopefully he comes back strong next time out.

May we never speak of this game again.....

Most pitchers will take 5-6+ starts to get their velo back up to where it's supposed to be for the season.

Sure seems like velocity is way up already around the majors

Benetti trying to sell that 8-2, props lol

Kinda like Robert in the third spot and let him learn there.

Eaton not giving up...at least.

And Robert has been making lots of hard contact in different directions for the last week.
