Even if fully healthy I think Boston and Houston are better than us when they are healthy. HFA could be huge if we can get it. Over in the NL I don't think we beat any of those guys in a World Series. The Mets have DeGod, Stroman and Walker who we aren't hitting. The Dodgers, Giants, and Padres have good pitching and can rake. The Brewers can't hit, but their pitching gives us fits. I really don't disagree but as you said it is possible if they get on a roll. This Sox team when on a hot streak are very strong. I do like our starting rotation and back of the pen for the playoffs. It is tremendous to remember that this really is year 1 of our window of contention.

I don't think with the injuries we can get on that roll this fast. It's possible because these guys are beasts athletically, but it just seems like a lot to ask. I'd love for us to get Story to take some of that pressure off.

July 29, 20214 yr I still just don't see the fit with Story 1. Right-handed bat, hits LHP much better than RHP 2. They are going to ask him to play a new position 3. He's a .243 hitter outside of Coors 4. He's not having a stellar 2021 I don't even count him being an FA after the season as a negative....but again I just don't know if he's the right fit for this team, especially given what I think will be somewhat of an inflated cost because of his name.

All fair points which I why I preferred Escobar, but we need to upgrade at 2B and I’d rather roll the dice on him than Javy Baez.
July 29, 20214 yr Frank was very against getting Story in the pregame due to it making the team too right handed and the fact that Story is not a 2B. It would be exciting to get him but I'd be more excited with a veteran set up guy for the pen.

One simple reason: When he get's hot...he can carry a team in a big way. Catch lightning in a bottle in October and he has the star power to pull that off. I don't love the move, but I can see the thinking by Hahn, especially if they had Escobar health concerns.
