Trade deadline has come and gone and we’re still running Luery & Goodwin out there in the OF ?

That's our White Sox.

Tony can't get it through his head that they're actually worse vs RHP than Engel. Thinks batting from the left side is some sort of magic.

Why doesn't Tony play Engel more than Goodwin/Leury?

I believe they specifically said that after his latest injury they were going to limit his use and not play him back to back. Righty on the mound tonight, so get the lefty in today.

Yeah, that is the only solace....but then, our CF options right now are pretty garbage, weird that Leury is the "best" CF option on the roster, currently.

Luis, please hurry back!

Oh, I'm stupid....forgot about Engel.

Yeah, this lineup is dumb. Quit falling in love with L/R crap, let the best PLAYER play.

Is that sarcasm? Engel and Hamilton are much better CF's

That's why they needed to acquire another big bat by today.  You can't rely on Jimenez, Moncada and Robert to stay healthy.  Abreu is always playing injured as well, even though he manages to struggle through it.

Absolutely dreadful bottom of the lineup

Cesar (with the Guardians) has been the only good hitter the past week (Leury sadly the third best of the previous Sox position players).

Hopeful Eloy is able to return soon and the core break out of their collective slump.

OPS Last Seven Days

  • Tim Anderson .292
  • Cesar Hernandez 1.103 <= With the Guardians
  • Jose Abreu .258
  • Gavin Sheets .690
  • Yoan Moncada .291
  • Andrew Vaughn .690
  • Brian Goodwin .340
  • Leury Garcia .554
  • Seby Zavala .393

See above, forgot about Engel completely. But no thanks to BHam starting. We can't punt 2 positions offensively right now, with the top of the order being so bad lately. Catcher is already a punt.

This is what concerns me with Tony. He is infatuated with the alternating lefty/righty and has to play all lefties vs a RHP.

Seby out-OPS'ing Yoan, Abreu AND TA the last 7 days. Yikes.

Without a roster move?  No.

Check out MLB Gameday by the start of the game. Each team must submit their 26 man active roster via computer to MLB's database. Kimbrel will show up if he was activated via computer.

In terms of logistics, and having flown to / from DC hundreds of times, you gain an hour so it's possible he can arrive at the park before/at the start of the game. Since he only has luggage, and doesn't have to worry about moving his residence, it's a distinct possibility if he headed for the airport shortly after hearing the news.

Doesn't Kimbrel take Heuer's roster spot?

Wasn't Heuer a qualifying roster move? Or...just not 'official' yet.

Isn't the corresponding move for Kimbrel = Heuer gone?

Kimbrel may get to the park before Tepera.

Not yet.  Officially he hasn't been added to the active roster.

Won't happen. The Sox are like night and day between being on the road and at home. On the road you just want to slap them and say what the f@#$ is wrong with you guys ?

Even when he was he wasn’t replacing them on a regular basis.

Anyone else notice that TA gets hot and almost all his hits go to RF and a few to center and when he gets cold he looks like he's pulling everything and grounding out to the left side a bunch ?

I'm starting to wonder if this isn't some process that he goes through on purpose . Like he will try to be a pull hitter once in a while to make himself a better hitter  or HR guy.

I expect him now to get hot again at home since his OPS+ is 133 home and 93 road.

Moncada also huge difference between home and road OPS+ . Home 139 , Road 97.

Can’t wait to see a similar lineup in the playoffs. Can Lynn DH this game?

TA and Jose both get into similar cycles:

1) Pulling everything on the ground to the left side

2) Start spraying singles and doubles to the right side

3) Start pulling doubles and homers to the left side

4) Back to pulling everything on the ground to the left side. Repeat cycle.

True but in Abreu's case he hits a lot of his HR's to LF and CF and hits a lot of his doubles down the line in left. He consistently better at pulling the ball than Tim is. Tim also hits the majority of his HR's to left field and a lot of them down the line or straight away left but  when he is hot it seems like most of his hits go to RF.
