November 28, 20214 yr Also, yes goes without saying McNeil (and many of Mets position players) is a fantastic fit for Sox. LH, great contact, good at GB%, 130 wRC+ career vs Righties. And a positive defensive player at 2B. Please Mets, pay Baez 180 million ?

November 28, 20214 yr I think the Buxton signing is bad for the Sox, but good for baseball. Nice to see a highly drafted player get paid by his original team even though it means we've got to see him 19 times a year for the foreseeable future.

While I love this idea- what would it take to get McNeil in a trade? I can't imagine he'd come cheap.

November 28, 20214 yr McNeil has been 1.2 WAR and .5 WAR the last 2 seasons. That's about what Engel's been, and Engel missed most of 2021. This isn't 2019 anymore. McNeil may have had his moment. What exactly is McNeil supposed to cost?

No one was ever thinking that would get it done since his supposed publicly known asking price was 200M. but… Welcome to Soxtalk!

Players and agents aren't looking to screw themselves and settle for $85M when they can sign for $70M-$100M + more? Plus he has no state income tax to deal with, so another 5% + bump.
