I would blame him too. My point was it is not just his decision alone as implied by the post that he the dinosaur is the reason.

You should read between the lines.

I am just going to say it. The White Sox will never win a World Series title with Tony LaRussa as their manager.

  • I’m glad he’s coming back ???

  • In 2019 the Sox ranked 15th in shifts, doing it 22.3% of PA’s In 2020 the Sox ranked 22nd in shifts, but they actually increased the amount of shifts they employed, doing it 29.3% of PA’s In

Are the advanced scouts the same? Are the people in the analytics department the same?

These decisions aren't made by one person without input from others.

Yes, Tony has shown a real willingness to listen to others thoughts and ideas throughout his career.

We're really reaching with the term advanced analytics and the distance of the fence.

The point is as far back as the early 80s, Tony was willing to let "nerds" help him make baseball decisions. He isn't some hard-ass, old school TWTW guy.

His teams had some dynamite chemists.

Gotta love how so many people here know with absolute certainty the inner workings of the White Sox organization.

So did every manager in baseball.

We would have lost to the Astros no matter who was managing.

This isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement for Tony La Russa.

And who’s to say he hasn’t tried to bring the game back to the good ole days by minimizing the number of shifts his team would do

This year, both regular season and post, he made more bad decisions than good. He isnt up to speed.

We will still be a top regular season team in spite of him as long as Gio, Lynn, and Cease are good. Hell DK can be good again? Moncada can be better. Robert and Grandal can be healthy.

You know there are a number of pitchers who do not like the defense to shift, right?

Yes I'm sure the White Sox fired everybody or gave alot of those guys different roles one year later...

This is nothing to lose sleep over as it was inevitable he was coming back.  Just need Hahn to amass enough talent to overcome La Russa’s poor decision-making.  Hopefully he does better this offseason than at the trade deadline.

But hasn’t shifting around the league been more effective than harmful. I made this point the other day, but I can’t imagine how bad the defensive stats for the team would have been if the pitchers didn’t strikeout so many hitters.

This. Tony sucks, but talent wins out. Hahn absolutely shit the bed during this trade deadline. Jerry needs to open the checkbook and Hahn needs to have one hell of an offseason.

So, they don't run the team. Tell them to shut the fuck up and worry about pitching.

I don't know, has it?  I haven't seen anything on this year but I thought previous years  babip has been fairly normal.

Cool, bruh.

I've explained why, given the volume of balls in play and the amount of plays that are effected by the shift (there has been a very small decrease in BABIP), but there's no point in presenting it to you since you're not really one who is willing to listen and understand the math behind it.

Hopefully we still have talent left here in 2024 that can win.

They’re not going to say they don’t want him back - even if they didn’t.

I have a very hard time seeing someone as strong minded as Tim Anderson lie about something because he thinks his bosses will be mad if he doesnt say what they want to hear.

Typing it out now, it makes even less sense to think about! The Tim Anderson... suddenly a Yes man.

This team won’t win under La Russa unless he becomes just a figurehead in the dugout while smarter, younger people run the team in the background.

Cardinals fire Shildt, even after the absurd finish they had to the season. Meanwhile, in Chicago, we continue to settle for mediocrity. Which is why the Cardinals are a great organization, and the White Sox are a joke.

Which his ego is too big for. Instead we are going to waste our window we waited years for.
