It's seriously been a trend since he came back from Covid.  LAst few games, he has been unable to go deep.

His mound presence has been totally different this year.

Hell of a bunt by Leury.

How times does this need to happen this year. The sox have a big inning then give it right back!

Might be something psychological when this team has to work so hard to get a lead there might be a slight bit of easing a bit with a lead.

He hasn't been the same since covid.

Prior to today's start, his numbers since coming off the COVID list: 21.2 IP, 4.57 ERA, 5.21 FIP, 5 home runs allowed. It's not gonna be any better after today's either.

And don't forget his abdominal strain IL stint right at the beginning of the year. It's been a bit jacked up for him.

Kinda sucks that arguably the 3 biggest acquisitions of the rebuild trades (Yoan, Giolito and Eloy) are struggling

Thankfully there’s Kopech and Cease. And Dunning led to Lynn.

Giolito had the big name but his Nationals’ career was a bit of a mess by then.

You don't think Burger is athletic enough to make the switch? I think he would be much better at 2nd than Moncada.

I doubt it.  He never played there before and I wouldn't want to mess with the guy when he's been doing so well and is still adjusting to the Major Leagues.  That's not how you develop a promising young player.

The way Yoan has (or hasn't) been hitting, it doesn't make sense for this team to have him at 3B when you already have a black hole hitting at 2B.  Plus moving Burger to DH forces Vaughn to the OF where his defense is lacking and also forces Pollock or Engel to the bench.  It also stunts Burger's defensive development at 3B.

Face it, for whatever reason Yoan has (or should have) lost his starting 3B job and should have to earn it back.  Maybe an unforseen and unfortunate injury, or Burger turning out to be a flash in the pan will allow him back into the starting job at 3B but right now it's either 2B or the bench for him if he remains on the 26 man roster.

Yes, once you expand the ramifications beyond Yoan V Burger, and getting them in the lineup, that affects Vaughn in the way you stated. But I do believe Jake’s bat is the loudest ATM.

eventually Yoan has to exit because he makes too much money and doesn’t produce. I wouldn’t mind squeezing him in at second base because he hits like a second baseman. But Jake is definitely the option at third to choose very soon

You have to give Burger the chance to show if he is the real deal. If he can continue to rake like this you have your 3rd baseman.

The guy has been through a lot of adversity and he has become mentally tough because of that. He works hard, hustles, and is great in the clubhouse.

Plus he is only 26. You have to find out now if he can consistently produce or not.

still hate robert‘s stance.

He's getting pitched low and away a lot and it just seems like he can't hit the ball with any sort of authority when it's pitched there.
