Putting the word "cease" into a game thread on days when Cease is not pitching is somewhat confusing.

29 Year Anniversary of Robin Ventura getting pummeled by Nolan Ryan. Sox should play in TX every August 4th to commemorate.

I don't blame him, blame the front office and coaching staff

This Cole Ragans isn't even available in the yahoo leagues. Marissa Mayer is such a b****.

Pollock looks better than Engel in CF.  Never thought I'd say that this year.

We are still helping Semien's career getting him out of Chicago and playing guys out of position ... which Marcus knows about having been typecast as a utility guy early in his Sox career.

Ron Washington acting as if he had to reteach Semien how to play defense wasn't a great look for the Sox player development & coaching staff.

I've heard before that a lot of outfielders think CF is the easiest to play

Ummm...pretty sure she doesn't make those decisions.  Did you buy that stock too high?  Isn't it Alibaba or Soft Bank with controlling interest now?

Just wait till Pollock actually has to run something down.

Andrew Vaughn is so slow, and gets such terrible jumps on the ball. I think I could have made that play in RF...

Pollock having to cover the gaps, flanked by Eloy in LF and AV in RF, feels like a disaster waiting to happen

I'm imagining Billy Beane and Washington talking with Semien like in they did in Moneyball.

Let's face it, most 6 year old little league teams have a superior coaching staff, player fundamentals and baserunning, and employ better analytics.

If you can read slice or pull...spin on the ball, under or over, would agree because the perspective is straight into the plate and you also need to be more aggressive since you should be the best outfielder covering gaps for the corners.  That said, Pollock doesn't have the sprint speed to run down balls like a Buxton.

Is Semien just one of those guys that plays well every other year?

It's the easiest in the sense of reading the ball. you have a great angle to the plate and you aren't going to deal with a wicked hooking line drive into the corners. that said, you have to be a special athlete to cover both power alleys.

He's still going to be a ~3.5 WAR player this year. Him getting back to MVP levels probably wasn't going to happen without the juiced ball anyways.

Yasmani's got nothing, man. This is painful to watch.

I've heard the same.

At least he didn't ground into a double play.

Yaz…

Then you have Omar Narvaez having a much longer and more productive career than anyone would have predicted.

Speaking of catchers...

Yas...sad to watch right now

87 mph cutter down the middle, what else could you want to hit there
