September 12, 20223 yr looking at the schedule, cease is starting against the dians on Thurs... right? They have the next monday off so he'll get the normal 4 days rest for the Tues game against the dians. splitting velasquez/lopez/lambert or even calling up martin for the last place rockies on Wed seems like the smart play

Lost 3/4 to KC Got swept by the Dbacks If the Sox split with KC and won even 1 game against the Dbacks then we are looking at just .5gb lol.. just so brutal

Giolito would go if they don’t change the current rotation order. Lynn could go on regular rest if they skip over Lucas, or flip flop Lucas on regular rest for Wednesday and go with Cease on extra rest on Thursday.

The Sox almost need to be perfect the rest of the way and perform well against Cleveland to force a one game playoff or win the division by the narrowest of margins.

Unless the Sox sweep the 4 remaining games with the Guardians, Cleveland will own the tie breaker.

Stone was talking thi very thing a month sgo, Sox played themselves into this position and have only themselves to blame, plaing their best baseball currently, and lost a half game, asking the Royals to pull them out of the abyss is comical
September 12, 20223 yr Momentum is only as good as your next day's starting pitcher. Cleveland basically has 3 reliable SPs right now in Bieber, Quantrill, and McKenzie with Plesac and Civale on the IL. All 3 of them pitched this weekend vs. Minnesota. They are also in a stretch of 18 games in 17 days, so they won't be able to skip the back 2 pitchers at all. Sox need to take 3 or 4 out of the 4 vs Cleveland and the Guardians need to lose a large percentage of the games where their lesser pitchers are starting. Sox need to stay hot as well and beat up on the Rockies and Tigers. That's the formula for winning this division.
September 12, 20223 yr Sox need to go 7-2 the next 9 including 3-1 vs Cle, and we’ll see where we are with 12 left.

They are also in a tough division and not distant from .500. Sometimes luck is involved. It's touch to face teams starting a winning streak or coming off a losing streak. Getting owned by the Royals is what hurts.

September 12, 20223 yr Francona to me is the greatest manager of all time, how the f does he do it year in and year out. A lock for manager of the year considering they tried to sell and are still in a prime spot to win the central

They just have a seemingly endless conveyor of serviceable players ready to fill in. As soon as a player starts to make more through arbitration, they can control the (still-team-controlled) players for more prospects to backfill the pipeline.
