Are the White Sox on any of the top International players expected to sign in January, 2025?

They have a reported agreement with 17yo Cuban 3B Alejandro Cruz, who Pipeline has #32 in their top 50.

Considering the current state of the team and international operations?  Signs point to no.

Read something today that Sox had a deal with some top 5 outfielder but Sox lost him to Mariners.  Anyone know if true!

No. I think Alejandro Cruz sounds interesting but Sox aren't linked to any of the top players.

Yorger Bautista is a guy who had an agreement with the Sox but they reneged on the deal I believe. He's signing with Seattle instead and is ranked as #5 prospect at Pipeline.

Is this due to the Marco Paddy change or greed?

I don't really know. It was awhile ago. They might've done it to sign Cruz instead but I have no idea.

To give up 5 for 32 seems a bit insane…

They have had instances of positive drug tests they dropped players for before.

Go look up where Cespedes, Colas and Adolfo were ranked, then do a search on how many times you've mentioned Fernando Tatis Jr.

That requires someone knowing talent.

They lucked into Tatis because of the father pushing him to the Sox, just like Elijah.

They won Robert largely because of Abreu and that STL wasn’t perceived as a great place for black/Latin players, perhaps more racism or discrimination bordering on the near South (although to this day McGee Pendleton Ozzie three of the most popular ex Cards, Brock as well).

Won Abreu because only Colorado and Sox needed a 1B.

Alexei Ramirez was probably the best ever Sox scouting projection from limited utility player to RoY type talent.

Ofc Eloy Jimenez was very highly ranked as well as he entered the Cubs’ system…still not sure who the talent guru is on the Latin American side, most likely it will be Keller making signing decisions, though.

It had nothing to do with being the highest bids?

A reminder that the Sox supposedly missed on Juan Soto by $100,000

And were supposedly 2nd on Vlady Jr.

I know nothing of the accuracy here, but just making sure people who might care can spot this.

They’re firing more scouts. I wonder how many they’ve fired total

It's safe to say Chris did not like the way Paddy ran the department.

Wonder how many scouts are left and how many will be hired?

There seems to be a general dissatisfaction across the industry. Lots of bodies for lots of slots.
