What about Getz with Washington as bench coach?  Might be more palatable, but I don't see how Getz would get hired before Espada, Quantraro, Grifol, etc.  Of course no one saw Ventura being hired...and LaRussa was a major headscratcher.

Ron Washington isn’t coming here to be a bench coach. Chris Getz isn’t going to manage. Hire Shildt or Espada and I’m happy.

I keep hoping all of this weird stuff is a misdirection to keep people away from who they really want, but after the TLR fiasco, I can't confidently say that out loud.

In hindsight Renteria should have never have been fired.

Is he even being considered? Seemed like Morosi just floated his name as a favor to him. Even according to him, there's no known plans to interview him.

The only thing that is giving me a little bit of hope is that they are actually conducting a search this time and not settling on someone so there is somewhat of a chance that they may get it right this time but I see where your coming from.
