I haven’t seen much, but my corner of WST makes no claims to know anything, we’re just jaded AF.
December 7, 20223 yr Author Tuesday night is usually peak craziness and s%*# is completely dead right now. Hopefully something pops up in the next hour.
December 7, 20223 yr Jerry is going to read Bob the riot act after Smithers hands him Bob’s article tomorrow morning. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/its-a-feeding-frenzy-for-free-agents-at-mlb-winter-meetings-opinion/ar-AA14ZaFE Quote And if a team like the Padres, who play in the 27th-largest market in the country, can be willing to have a payroll exceeding $250 million, hey, no excuses for anyone else, right?
December 7, 20223 yr The good news is spring training isn’t for 10 weeks. Most teams are in the same position as the Sox as far as acquiring players for 2023. s%*# may happen tonight or tomorrow. Certainly the next three weeks will be active for everyone. Let’s see what the roster looks like on 1/1/23 compared to the rest of the league.

December 7, 20223 yr Aside from the Cubs, Giants, and Phillies, the winter meetings have been pretty quiet. No major trades. A few big signings on Monday (that were probably already in agreement before the meetings started). Hopefully the Sox have been laying some groundwork for a trade or two. There's no way this team can go into spring training without some substantial upgrades and expect to compete.
December 7, 20223 yr Author Judge signing will get the OF market moving now. Need Correa, Boegarts, & Swanson to sign as well along with a Murphy trade to really open up the trade market for us. Seems like it’s going to be a minute before we see Hahn do much.
December 7, 20223 yr Is today a full day, or is it like pre covid that the hotel empties after the Rule 5?
December 7, 20223 yr I’m wavering and it seems like Swanson may get paid a lot. But still think teams will treat him like a distant third and not just give him the same glob not good enough for the others.

Besides teams that got signings done, you also had teams like the Giants and Padres who were clearly making strong offers for guys. Plenty of activity for the year.
