When he got to the minors and they started talking like he was a guarantee to hit only .280, then the bust radar went up. Any kid with that kind of bat profile is likely getting picked 1:1 straight out of high school and has no need for college baseball. I don't ever remember a comparison to Gwynn, but I think the term "elite bat to ball skills" was used quite a bit. That number would be top 10 at 2nd base pretty much every year. The biggest issue was he couldn't/can't stay on the field and his defense was below what we were expecting from him.
