IF it is Benintendi, I wouldn’t be shocked at all if we then see Hendriks dealt.  I know people hate it, but I think there is truth to the Jays rumor.

I think you’re right. Convince Jerry to sign off, with a footnote that most of the payroll will be recouped with a trade.

  • Working on it but I think this burner is correct.

  • So what are the odds we are giving that whomever we sign the white sox will be their last team before retirement?

  • There is really only one alternative in resolving this position and his name is Benintendi. The guy is a gold glove LF, who hits for average and gets on base. He is far superior to Joey Gallo (the str

They could be trying to solve the 2B and C issues all at once.

I guess I picked the wrong week to quit Soxtalk

If it is indeed true, what kind of deal is it?  Almost certainly multiple years.  3 or 4 years at $15 million per?

4/68 my guess

I definitely Hendricks is getting if we sign any semi-material free agent.  Are you just speculating on the Jays though?

There was a Jay's Youtuber suggesting the deal had been discussed, but nothing from anyone proven credible.

Career .351 OBP. I'll gladly take that. Hopefully the power is solid enough. His arm is bad, but the range is very good. Finally Hahn and company are putting out guys in the OF who can flash some leather.

Does this mean we are trading Eloy or DHing him? And I like Benintendi, but that lack of power is scary. If his OBP slips even a little, we are looking at a newer version of Engel.

Eloy is a DH.

Mixed on a Beni signing. If his WAR translated, fine. But last season the Sox sacrificed too much power at the power postions, and not much is changing on that front

You're never quitting Soxtalk.  You're stuck here forever with the rest of us slobs.?

Yep, makes sense.  I’m surprised at how much value people think Hendriks has.

His power wasn’t awful until last year.  He would be hitting at a much smaller park (KC to CWS).  He was always the guy that you had to wonder if the Sox would go after, as they LOVED him in the draft and the Grifol connection.

At the position he plays I'd like more power. You may be correct about the field being a factor, but we've seen this story too many times. We always get the worst end of production from our signings.

Sox also need lefty hitters that can get on base against tough RHP.  I’m not as concerned about getting power from LF.

He’s a solid player. Dependable. The Sox need Moncada and Grandal to bounce back or it won’t matter who they bring in.

I like this. But now we have unhappy Eloy DHing. He always said he would not be happy in that role. Can he adjust to that mindset and be mentally prepared to just hit?

Gonna guess 4/$70M range.

We have no power in RF at the moment and Robert hasn't provided enough power either yet. It's a valid concern at this stage.

Never is a long time....almost as long as Leury's contract feels.

That potential aspect is the only thing about the rumor that makes any sense to me.  They'd still be stuck with Yaz's dead money though.

Hendriks for Jansen and Biggio feels very White soxy. Really don’t like it, but if Beni is brought in whatever.

An outfield of Benintendi, Robert and Colas should be sufficient power wise.  Not great, but good enough.

That trade would be awful. Giving up an elite closer for 2 mediocre players.

If they're signing Benintendi, Eloy will still get time in LF.  These days every team realizes you gotta rotate players to keep them fresh.  He just won't get 50% of the time out there.  Of all the lefty-hitting guys out there, he's always made the most sense. They've always liked him, he's a good defensive player, and he gives them OBP which they desperately need. I get that he isn't the power bat that they need, but as others have said, if Moncada is gonna suck like last year, it doesn't matter who they sign for LF.

If Robert is healthy, he's got big power. Colas, i would think would be surpressed as a rookie. Benen10D has hit some in the past. Eloy as a DH is a 40 HR guy if he stays in the line up. This is one of the better options.  This guy at least works a count.

How is Jansen mediocre?  Huge power last year.  15 homers in 248 at bats last year makes him look like Mike Piazza on the Sox.
