Someone must be on the way out?

If it is a DFA deal, it is probably not much.

Sox roster now at 39, no one has to be on the way out.  They won't have to add any of the NRI's, including Colas, until after ST.  This is essentially a free look.

They’re trading Liam man I am sick.

Here is Fangraphs’ write-up from last year where they ranked him the Giants’ 7th prospect and a 45 FV overall.

Santos was one of the bigger stories from the Giants’ alternate site in 2020 and seemed primed for a prominent role in the big league bullpen in ’21, but his season was waylaid by an early season 80-game suspension for PED use. His stuff was as impressive as ever upon his return, but the utility of that stuff remains a work in progress. With broad shoulders, long levers and an incredibly fast arm, Santos generates elite velocities, sitting in the 97-99 mph range while hitting or exceeding triple digits with regularity. The pitch is a bit flat and gets hit more than the radar gun would suggest, but it’s not even his primary pitch. In fact, opposing hitters see more of his impressive slider, which is noted for both its velocity at 89-91 mph and its unique shape, with good horizontal action and far less vertical movement than most hard breakers. Santos is a bit of a bull in a china shop who just lets it fly and hopes for the best. He generally fills up the zone, but shows little aptitude for working north-to-south or east-to-west. Originally developed as a starter, Santos is a pure ‘pen arm at this point and will head to spring training with a chance to once again impact the Giants relief corps. He projects as a set-up man sort.

Forgot who coined it here, but always be selling relievers

Can't have a Sox offseason without some "live arm flyer" signing or trade.

What year was it when Kenny tried to create a super bullpen with like 5 guys that threw 98-100 mph?  Problem was that most of them couldn't actually pitch well.

This write-up on Santos sounds eerily similar to ReyLo's scouting report. Whatever we've done has worked in Lopez, so worth a shot on Santos.

Make him wear glasses?

I wish the Sox had a policy…if you’ve been suspended for PEDs as a big leaguer for another team, you will never play for us. If they followed this the past 10-15 years, it would have served them well.

Our AAA pitchers were so bad last year I’m fine if all were churned out. So good.

I agree. Unless they gave up something good, which is doubtful, how is this not Ok/

70 heater and 70 slider? Yes, please. Worth a shot. If he sucks you just DFA him.

2007? The year of Mike MacDougal, Andrew Sisco, David Aardsma and yours truly.

Nothing wrong with a flier deal like this.  It's a live arm and see if your guys can  harness it.  If not, send him packing again.

Yes, Boone, you held it down well for Bobby Jenks too.

I was hyped as f*** for that bullpen.  It didn’t really work out, but at the time I was excited for guys like Sisco & Aardsma.
