January 6, 20233 yr I’m getting the feeling that the odds of us signing a legit 4th OF’er are dwindling. Throw a bunch of warm bodies at the problem and see if anything sticks seems to be the plan.

January 6, 20233 yr Marisnick was at one time an absolute wizard in the OF. I am sure he’s not quite that but this is a very good guy to get on an milb deal. Instantly jumps to top of the 4th OF depth chart imo.

No, some veteran minor league contracts come with clauses saying "If this person is not added to a big league roster by (for example) May 1, they have the right to be released from this contract". Often done for veterans who know they may or may not get roster spots, which is what all of these guys are. Apparently there's actually a clause in the last CBA that requires it for some players. They likely have opt out dates if they haven't been added to the active roster. Hamilton and Marisnick almost certainly will. Reyes maybe not since he doesn't have much of a track record.
