MLB reached out to Sox and said interference call should not have been made

I feel like the MLB Umpire's union should have to call the club.

As I said, if that is "interference" then you coach your guys to just run into any base-runner, even if they are on the base, during any infield fly. Literally no downside.  At least we got fucked by a bad call in a year it won't matter at all. Hard to even get too upset given our team is so awful.

It’s more just pathetic how Pedro folded

Junior valentine should be fined and suspended. What a fucking stupid call

I wanna know what MLB is gonna do about it

Rule 6.01(a) seems to support that: "A runner who is adjudged to have hindered a fielder who is attempting to make a play on a batted ball is out whether it was intentional or not."

But a source told ESPN's Jesse Rogers that MLB reached out to the White Sox after the game to say the umpires do have discretion on that play and that interference didn't have to be called.

I know it doesn't matter for us, and we still probably lose that game, but extra win for Orioles could impact the outcome of the AL East/Wildcard race

Hindered is doing a lot of work in that rule. How do  you "hinder" an infield popup exactly when it's an automatic out, or, even if you think it wasn't an IF fly rule, how was he "hindered" when he camped under it for a good few seconds and easily made the play?

The umps fucked it up and Pedro should have gotten himself ejected even tho the game was over.

That was worst of all. It's one thing to be terrible at your job, it's another thing to get totally fucked over by the fascist umpire and say "please sir may I have another". I guess that's a nice departure from his typical post-game comments where he impersonates the world's worst motivational speaker.

Why didn't we appeal the game? They should replay the game.

He should have filed an appeal or protest soon as he got into the clubhouse. Not sure exactly how that works but at least get it in paper that the umps fucked up, that's the least amount of accountability we can expect.

He flushed the appeal.

The ump crew has to be suspended. Seriously, 9.9 out of every 10 fans would know that was not interference. It's incomprehensible the ump crew could be that dumb.

MLB reached out what a joke ?

Fantastic news! Now if we break or tie the loss record, we can put an asterisk on it.

Don’t know if this has been covered but why didn’t he play under protest at that point?

The fact that he didn't file an appeal is probably the reason why MlB did what it did. You file an appeal the only thing you hear is crickets until they deny your appeal.

If an appeal was somehow granted the entire game wouldn't be replayed, it would resume at the spot of the incorrect call.

And it wouldn't matter, the Sox would lose the game anyway.

You said this yesterday too. It's irrelevant to the call being wrong.

You are correct it is irrelevant. Just like this entire season so it is not even worth the trouble is it? ?
