I would not have taken Wilken at anything like 1-10, so I suppose I feel that way about Ford too. Obviously, if he turns into Goldschmidt you’d love him anywhere in the first round. I would prefer more upside. I am heartened that the 2026 high school class looks very very promising. That may be the best hope for this rebuild. I think Ford is interesting but I wouldn't take him at 1-10 either. I think this years HS class has a chance to be promising too. There are like 6-7 shortstops who have a chance to be pretty good. I like Ebel and Willits and you also have Carlson, Cunningham, James, Franco and Gambel though he may end up in CF. If these guys continue to get better they're gonna get a good player at 1-10.
December 10, 20241 yr With the draft order set, we are getting our first mocks. Holliday is ours! https://futurestarsseries.com/2025-mlb-mock-draft/ Quote 10. Chicago White Sox Ethan Holliday, 3B — Stillwater HS HOMETOWN: Stillwater, Oklahoma HEIGHT: 6-4 WEIGHT: 210 BAT/THROW: L-R The next Holliday in a long line of decorated impact bats, Ethan follows in his older brother’s footsteps and becomes the No. 1 overall pick in 2025. He’s a much more imposing hitter than his brother was at this same stage with far more projection in the power department than Jackson had/has. He’s already getting a majority of his reps at third base, and shortstop is all but out the window. The hit tool needs to improve, but even if it’s a 40-grade hit tool and 70-grade power, it plays in the top ten picks. Holliday is a fluid defender with above-average arm strength and is quick enough to play a strong right field like his father (Matt) if things shake out that way. There will undoubtedly be pressure on the bat considering his already-off-the-middle-of-the-field profile, but scouts and analysts like myself are bullish on the athlete in the box, the projection in the stick, and what the whole package could look like a year from now. Obviously the White Sox and their fans would be thrilled to land a talent like Holliday here. Edited December 10, 20241 yr by DirtySox
December 10, 20241 yr BA also has their first mock up. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/2025-mlb-mock-draft-first-round-picks-with-lottery-complete-order-set/ Quote 10. White Sox — Devin Taylor, OF, Indiana Taylor is a well-rounded lefthanded hitter who has produced in back-to-back seasons with Indiana and also impressed in every summer league and wood bat experience he’s had in college, including one with Team USA in 2024 and stints in the Cape Cod League and New England Collegiate League. He’s a career .338/.441/.655 hitter with Indiana who homered 26 times in two seasons and has bat speed, plus raw power and a solid batting eye. He’s more of a fringy defender in the outfield, profiling as a left fielder.
December 11, 20241 yr BA’s draft makes waaay more sense. I want more upside than Taylor. Dumesnil is either gonna rocket up boards or his stock will collapse. I am intrigued by Willits. Appenzeller is a possibility, but more so to push down to 2-1. I think Gamble is also a possibility. They will be in position to get some good at 10. Let’s hope they do it. 2026 HS class supposed to be very good, so there’s that.

Let’s hope they do it. 2026 HS class supposed to be very good, so there’s that. Taylor doesn't have a very good all around game. He's not going to provide much value on defense or on the bases so all his upside is in the box but that is still pretty good upside because he can really hit. This draft is strong in HS position players and pretty good in college hitters so they will definitely get a good player at 1-10. I like Willits and Ebel on the HS side but the guy I'm most intrigued by is Aiva Arquette. I'm usually down on Oregon St guys because they're ridiculously overhyped but this dude is interesting as all hell. He's enormous (6'5" 220) and will be playing SS this spring. If he taps into his power and shows he can play an avg SS he could easily be a top 5 pick.
December 20, 20241 yr EDIT: Nevermind, I read this half-asleep and thought the tweet said he is committing to his commitment, not that he was just simply choosing a school like every other HS kid. Carry on. Edited December 20, 20241 yr by ChiliIrishHammock24

December 20, 20241 yr He commited to Tennessee he didn't opt out of the draft so he's still be eligible at 1-10. More importantly why am I getting emails when someone posts in this thread??

I'd imagine you hit it at some point, possibly by accident, and it looks like that might trigger an email alert for new posts? January 4, 20251 yr Interesting. Thanks for this. I think you may be light on Dumesnil. He’s got the kind of tools that, if he performs, he could be a top 5 guy. But that’s why they play the games.
January 4, 20251 yr Yeah you're right I'm probably a little light on him. He's gonna have to overcome the small college thing but if he crushes it he could definitely be in that mix. There are some interesting bats to follow this spring.

January 13, 20251 yr They won't take a hs SS unless they believe he can make it to the big leagues in just 2-3 years. Fans won't even be left by 2029/30 at the projected rate of this rebuild.

Regardless, they should take the best asset available, with the highest ceiling when it’s their turn to pick. The rest will figure itself out.
