Laviolette is risky business but damn the profile is tempting and fits probably the biggest need in the system. A big power left handed bat. I’d probably go elsewhere but do feel more confident with Fuller as the hitting guy opposed to years past when it comes to fixing a hitter.

I’d rather them draft Ike Irish. I know LaViolette is good in CF but give me the sure bat, even if it’s a corner profile.

Wasn't there a similar guy that the Dodgers drafted about five years ago?  Can't recall the name, but a huge power guy, low hit, high strike out profile?

Can’t think off top of my head and can’t remember Michael Buschs numbers but he was big lefty bat they drafted in the first 5-6 years back.

I haven’t heard him mentioned but I’d think Irish is more in play than most think. Consensus seems to be he’s going somewhere around pick 10 and fits big OF need with real good bat. Scouts seem to think he’s a 15-20sh HR guy in the league so yeah not sure it’s ideal corner profile.

I went back and looked, I think it was Jaren Kendell

New Callis mock.

Quote

10. White Sox: JoJo Parker, SS, Purvis (Miss.) HS (No. 10)

Prep shortstops are the strongest part of this Draft, and the White Sox will tap into that. Unless Willits somehow gets to No. 10, they'll pounce on Parker, who might offer the best combination of hitting ability and power in that demographic. Whoever gets Parker may try to grab his twin brother Jacob, a slugging outfielder, with their next selection. Kayson Cunningham is another shortstop option if Parker goes higher, while Tennessee middle infielder Gavin Kilen might be the top college candidate.

I wonder at which positions the true depth of this draft resides...not just the first 50 picks, but the first 200 or so.  The Sox edge is drafting first in rounds 2-20.  Use it.

If they didn’t a draft corner OF Masher Jac @#5 last year, I can’t see drafting Irish now.  Jace might be a good gamble, if they have real insight of his issues and how to fix them.  CF is big.   I would hope not another pitcher, all things being equal.

Good piece here on how risky Jace is. Also sounds like he's destined for a corner OF spot.

I'm terrified at his profile. I think I'd prefer one of the college pitchers to him. An aside, he sure sounds like an Orioles draft pick. See Vance Honeycutt and Jud Fabian.

If JoJo is the pick at 10 do you pick his brother at 76th in the third or 106 in the 4th?

Or even if Jo Jo isn't the pick.

To me, the players ranked 40-60 don't look that much different than a lot of the players of the players ranked 10-30.

As of now, I'm in the round-1-underslot/no punt (at least until late) strategy camp.

I have no inside information or anything but I have this suspicion we are going to see a college pitcher with pick one, and a prep bat with pick two. Just like last year.

So boring, but the prep bat with pick two seems pretty damn good right now.

Bonemer has been a revelation, and if Hagen gets back on track it could be a hell of draft class.

Makes sense. What are the two types of players that cost the most money that JR won't pay for:

TOR pitchers

Power bats

They need to draft them.

In the latest from Kiley McDaniel, he has the White Sox taking California prep SS Billy Carlson. He also notes that Carlson, Parker or Doyle would likely be the pick if available. He also linked them to prep shortstop Steele Hall.

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/45532575/2025-mlb-mock-draft-20-kiley-mcdaniel-predicts-first-round-picks

I think there's a tier of 10 players at the top

College Lefties: Kade Anderson, Liam Doyle and Jamie Arnold

Prep Righty (Best Player in the Class): Seth Hernandez

Prep Infielders: Ethan Holliday, Eli Willits, Jojo Parker and Billy Carlson

College Bats: Aiva Arquette and Ike Irish

Would the White Sox take the player who is left or pivot to the next tier? Steele Hall, Kyson Witherspoon or the secondary college bats like Gavin Kilen and Summerhill. I'm not really sure. I'm hoping that the five college guys go in front of them.

The new Kiley mock that Jimmy referenced. Top 10 below.

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/45532575/2025-mlb-mock-draft-20-kiley-mcdaniel-predicts-first-round-picks

Quote

1.) Nationals - Kade Anderson

2.) Angels - Liam Doyle

3.) Mariners - Jamie Arnold

4.) Rockies - Ethan Holliday

5.) Cardinals - JoJo Parker

6.) Pirates - Aiva Arquette

7.) Marlins - Eli Willits

8.) Blue Jays - Ike Irish

9.) Reds - Seth Hernandez

10.) Chicago White Sox
Billy Carlson, SS, Corona HS (California)
Top 150 rank: 5

The White Sox are casting a wide net because of where they pick. I think Doyle -- and probably Carlson and Parker, too -- stops here if he happens to slide this far, while Hall is also in the mix. The top tier of talent in the eyes of most evaluators is at least eight players and maybe as many as a dozen, so Chicago will have to be reactive to who is left over. But the White Sox probably will get one of the players they target from that tier.

Found it interesting that Kiley says if Liam doesn't go to the Angels, he could make it all the way to 9 or 10.
