Lip Man 1
10. White Sox: JoJo Parker, SS, Purvis (Miss.) HS (No. 10) Parker's name is buzzy. He's been talked about as high as No. 2. If the White Sox grab him, they could take his twin brother, Jacob (Draft No. 107), in the second round.

DirtySox
Joe Doyle posted his Over-Slot White Sox Draft Preview. Believe you can only listen to the podcast if you are a Patreon subscriber. Will post some highlights from the nearly hour long listen. Quote - Starts off reflecting on the last 2 drafts since that coincides with the regime change. Says the best you can say about Jacob Gonzalez is largely uninspiring. They thought he would be a more dynamic defender, a better hitter, and have more power. - Lauds the Grant Taylor pick. Calls him disgusting. Says his stuff is diabolical. Hopes for him and the White Sox that they let him run free as a starter next season. Calls him wasted talent in the backend of the bullpen since the team won't be competing the next 2 seasons. - Talks up Oppor. Says if all the gears line up he could be at least a backend guy if he gets the strikes in order. - He is huge on LaCombe. Said some of the most disgusting stuff he's seen. They are taking it slow with him and want him to add strength, but he's probably due for a promotion. - Hitters from the 2023 draft just haven't worked. Says Calvin Harris is fine, but probably a platoon bat at best. Wolkow has slowed down a bit in 2025, and needs to reign in the strikeout rate. Calls Galanie a potential sleeper. - Moves on to the 2024 draft. Says he would have taken Cags personally, but Smith was 6th on his board. Was exceptional in High-A. Not worried about the high walks. He will figure it out and there isn't a big rush since the team isn't winning in the near future. Will be just fine. Not an iota of buyers remorse. - Says one of the major reasons they didn't take Cags is because the contending window club had far too many of the unathletic, first base/corner type players. Mentions Burger, Sheets, Vaughn, Eloy. Said it was leading to defensive malpractice. They want athletes, or horse type starters. - Bonemer has been very very good. Would be very excited about his future. - Doyle had a 3rd round grade on Antonacci. Huge advocate. Says he is the definition of a ballplayer. Super high on him. - Believes the 2024 draft will age very well for the White Sox. The 2025 draft dirt. Quote - Starts off detailing what HE would do as the White Sox. - They need pitchers for the rotation. Need pitching depth. Says the position player prospects are solid. Thinks they should add one of the college pitchers at 10 if one is there. Don't count on Anderson/Doyle lasting. He would take one of Kyson Witherspoon, Tyler Bremner, Gage Wood. Cut a deal and allot that extra million to the second/third round picks. - While he doesn't think this is necessarily the direction they will go, he thinks they should consider it. Look at it through the lens of having a Noah Schultz, Hagen Smith, Witherspoon/Bremner/Wood as your top 3 in the rotation. - Guys he has heard linked to the White Sox. Billy Carlson. They REALLY like Carlson. Brought him in for a private workout. Says this system doesn't have a true shortstop. Lists off the usual suspects and says they are all truly second or third basemen or lower on the defensive spectrum. - They also really like Xavier Neyens. Done a lot of work on him. Doesn't think he will be the pick at 10 though. - Mentions Brenden Summerhill. Says even though he's been playing RF, he's a CF. White Sox like him. - Heard recently that among the folks in the front office Steele Hall is a priority and very well liked. Says Hall isn't given enough credit and that he has higher grades on him than most. Smaller guy but a dynamic shortstop. Maybe the most tooled up player in the draft. The hit tool, approach, and power projection might give some pause. - White Sox met with Kyson Witherspoon. - Gavin Kilen has been an emphasis on the scouting side. He makes a lot of sense, but he has much more conviction in Carlson/Hall as a future SS. Worries you might be getting another Jacob Gonzalez here. Gets into guys they like that aren't first round targets. - White Sox like Sean Gamble quite a bit. Also really like Fauske, and Taitn Gray. Notes that these guys aren't attainable without money. Gets back to saying they should go after Bremner or Wood with pick 10. Reinforce your rotation of the future then use the savings to get one of those prep bats they really like at 44/76 etc. - Who will the Chicago White Sox take? Thinks it will be Carlson. Thinks he will be on the board at 10 and if he isn't it's likely due to the Pirates snapping him up. Edited June 23 by DirtySox 2

DirtySox
Also a BA scouting report for Taitn Gray who I was not aware of at all. Quote 126. Taitn Gray C Ht: 6'3" | Wt: 215 | B-T: B-B School: Dallas Center-Grimes Community HS, Dallas Center, Iowa Drafted/Committed: Oregon Age At Draft: 17.9 Gray is a physical switch-hitting catcher with a muscular, linebacker-esque build at 6-foot-3, 220 pounds. His power from both sides of the plate is his calling card, and the 109 mph exit velocity he posted at PBR’s Super 60 showcase in February topped the event. He has plus raw power now and enough hitting ability to tap into that power in games. Gray’s swing features some moving parts, including a moderate leg kick and a slight hand hitch, but he’s an explosive rotator with tons of bat speed. He’s typically more synced up and fluid from the left side compared to the right. Gray has a chance to be an average defender with more work behind the dish. He’s got an average arm and might be able to profile in an outfield corner if he has to move, with some run times early in the 2025 season better than expected given his size—though he should settle in as a below-average runner in the future. Gray is young for the class and will be 17 on draft day. Edited June 23 by DirtySox

He's struggled a bit in his last 3 games, but overall in the last month he's dramatically cut down on the strikeouts and has a pretty solid line. 🤞he can keep it up.

Well worth the $5. https://www.patreon.com/c/overslot/ Thanks for posting the Joe Doyle recap. I like his draft approach. particularly underslot in round 1. If they can't get Carlson or Parker, the others don't seem that distinguishable from a player the could get at 20. And the value may be at college pitcher. Would also prevent the dreaded (to me) mult-round punting. 1

There will be “punting”.

I don’t think Hall will be much of a discount at 10. Carlson and Parker definitely won’t be. If it’s a prep guy, I’m guessing it’s minimum $6 million at 10. I think they spend $3 million at 44 and between $1.5-$2 million at 76. I think they’ll try to push Fauske or Gamble to 44.

Law said he’s a good athlete too IIRC Keith Law’s report on Gray: “Gray’s season is just getting underway in Iowa, so he has more opportunity to improve his stock than anyone else on this list. He’s a switch hitter who makes a ton of hard contact and shows plus power now, and he runs well for a catcher — which is good because he’s probably not a catcher. The bat looks like it will profile in right field, and he might end up in the top two rounds with a strong spring/summer.”
DirtySox
Don't think I've posted the BA writeup on Gamble before. Quote 43. Sean Gamble OF / 2B Ht: 6'1" | Wt: 185 | B-T: L-R School: IMG Academy, Bradenton, Fla. Drafted/Committed: Vanderbilt Age At Draft: 19.0 BA Grade: 55/Extreme An Iowa native at powerhouse IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., Gamble has shown a mix of high-end tools, athleticism and upside. As an underclassman, Gamble showed an aggressive, explosive swing to produce big bat speed from the left side. That swing would get big at times, but in 2024 his swing has looked more efficient and under control, showing the ability to drive the ball for extra-base damage to all fields. He’s a plus runner as well, giving him a chance to become a power-speed threat if everything clicks. With a quick first step and a strong arm, Gamble has experience both in the infield and the outfield, potentially fitting at second or third base in the infield or center field in the outfield.
