Probably end up with Ron Harper's kid since it's the Bulls... That would be awesome. He's my 3rd pick though. Ace Bailey might be my #1. Still any of the big 3 would be incredible and after last night's performance, maybe they can do it.

I don't think I've ever seen a college bb team with two 1-2/1-3 draft picks not be at least a Sweet 16 tourney team b4.
Quin
Hollinger wrote that the Bulls had a first on the table for Lonzo. So they could have gotten multiple seconds for Drummond and Vuc, and a first for Lonzo. AKME just cannot manage assets.

They gave a meh player a two year extension during which the Bulls will no doubt be bad, rather than taking a first round pick.

Kyyle23
KC Johnson was on the score saying he agreed with the bulls leaving the deal on the table for Lonzo. He said from what he understood the bulls were getting smarts contract back and would havej to send a 2 to move up a few slots and he thought that wasn’t worth it. i dunno, to me a first is a first, it’s an asset that won’t get hurt, Marcus smart is the rest of this season and 21M next season so probably close to 30 on the books. But you know what? Who cares about that bad money on the books? The bulls aren’t spending to the cap and worried about their payroll. And they turned around and SPENT that bad money on Lonzo. They should have made this move, Lonzo is a ticking time bomb with that leg and the bulls shouldn’t be sitting near when it goes off

Mavericks and Blazers went over the air. Mavs are gonna obviously tank. But if the Bulls were trying - or at least picking a fucking direction - they might actually still get fans tuning in. They should have made this move, Lonzo is a ticking time bomb with that leg and the bulls shouldn’t be sitting near when it goes off Yeah, I'm beating the 2nd rounders for Drummond and Vuc to death but... If they traded Drummond: That turns into a 2nd + 1st + dead money Or they paper over the mistake and get rid of Vuc for 2nds, opening playing time for Smith and idk, Sanogo, who isn't good but at least plays hard. Or maybe Zach Collins turns into a semi-tradeable contract - and you're exchanging dead money for dead money. Suddenly that's 3 seconds + 1st + opening up playing time + better tanking. I know you know this Kyle and I don't mean to make this my Luke Keaschall (sorry WS2023), but the inability of Reinsdorf front offices to open up Spotrac and go "these assets expire then, we can get new, more affordable/better assets now" is maddening. Quin
FROM SHAMS: Dallas Mavericks center Daniel Gafford has sustained a Grade 3 right MCL sprain and will miss at least 6 weeks, sources tell me and @espn_macmahon. Gafford, Anthony Davis and Dereck Lively II now expected to be out significant stretches of the second half of the season. caulfield12
NBA Celebrity Game, Rising Stars, down Friday night Friday’s NBA All-Star Celebrity Game averaged a 0.7 rating and 1.21 million viewers on ESPN, down 27% and 23% respectively from last year (0.9, 1.6M) and the least-watched edition of the event since at least 2007. It was still the most-watched sportscast of the night, topping a college basketball window on FOX (UCLA-Indiana: 1.14M). The Rising Stars Challenge followed with 912,000 on TNT and truTV, down 15% from last year’s 1.07 million, but up 3% from two years ago (888K). https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/2025/02/unrivaled-1x1-ratings-most-watched-nba-all-star-friday-nascar-trucks/ The enthusiasm was validated by the game’s huge ratings: According to ESPN, the U.S.-Canada game averaged 4.4 million viewers on ABC, peaking at 5.2 million. It makes the matchup the most-viewed non-Stanley Cup Final hockey broadcast since 2019. https://frontofficesports.com/nhl-4-nations-face-off-steals-the-spotlight-from-nba-all-star-weekend/ “Real humans are watching NBA skills competition over USA vs Canada and I feel bad for them,” wrote one person on X. “I didn’t have Gary Bettman outshining Adam Silver on my bingo card this year,” wrote another. It’s about the college practice team that was brought in to scrimmage the dream team, it consisted of Chris Weber Bobby Hurley Anfernee Hardaway Grant hill Allen Houston Eric Montross Jamal mashburn Rodney rogers it’s a quick documentary but it’s pretty funny and until Coach K gums it up at the end, it’s really a fun doc.
