When I get home...watching over the air via antenna.  Had my hopes up to watch via MLB.TV when that other thread stated that there aren't any blackouts impacting Midwest teams...but that doesn't appear to be true.

No blackouts just means you can get it thru the CHSN app now.

The interface of the app is atrocious. Couldn’t navigate the box score. Or the other panels on the screen.

Also does CHSN, have a White Sox beat reporter? Some good Sox writers are on the street now unfortunately

Pretty sure there's Connor McKnight and Brooke Fletcher, Garfien on the t.v. side, but not sure about the website/writing side of things.

That one still grinds on me...a symptom of one of the many things that the White Sox do that causes problems...it is OK to hire outside the "family" occassionally!  UGH...

They should hire Vinnie Duber or Daryl Van Schouwen

I'd understand this argument if this was her first job or something, but she is pretty decorated before working for the White Sox. It's not like she got this job JUST because her dad played here/she is related to Gordon Beckham.

Agreed.  She seems to know what she is doing.  But let’s be honest — if she was the female version of Garfien, she wouldn’t have the job.  🤣

She also had experience before this job with the Sox…

Quote

Fletcher began her career at ESPN before joining Bally Sports Detroit in 2018, serving as a host and reporter for the Tigers, Red Wings, and Pistons. The Michigan Emmy award winner eventually left the Motor City in 2022 to co-host The Rally on Bally Sports, while also joining Apple TV+ for its Major League Baseball broadcasts and the Big Ten Network for college football. Fletcher joined the newly established CHSN at its inception and currently hosts The Chicago Lead, the network’s cornerstone show that airs each weeknight.

I heard this being discussed on sports radio.  From what they said, Comcast simply doesn’t make that much money in these deals, especially not for three currently bad teams.  And Michael Reinsdorf is acting like a clueless old man yelling at the air.

I don’t really get what CHSN is doing at this point. Just agree to the Comcast deal to go on the higher tier and then blame Comcast publicly for it. I can’t believe anyone still uses Comcast/Xfinity for television.

Agreed.  I have been without “cable TV” for ages.  At the beginning of this year, I upped my Xfinity Internet speed to a gigabit down, which came with a free year of Peacock Premium so I can get all the big WWE events.  🤣

I have an Nvidia Shield Pro on my main TV and Onn 4K Pro boxes on my other TV’s.  I use antennas for OTA channels and Stremio and RealDebrid to stream anything I want for free, including live channels.  I also get free MLB.tv each year through my son’s T-Mobile cell service.

I can’t imagine paying Xfinity/Comcast for anything other than Internet.  I even looked into AT&T Fiber Internet to dump Xfinity altogether but it isn’t available in my area yet.

If you know what you are doing, you should be paying around $100 bucks a month at most to watch anything you want.

My understanding from reading the story is that Comcast's biggest issue is the fact the Sox/Bulls are allowing their games to be seen via over the air (i.e. free) TV which devalues Comcast's product in their opinion.

And God knows the state of the Sox/Bulls is devalued big time right now the way things are.

Perhaps if the Reinsdorf's and Brooks decide to stop free TV broadcasts Comcast will agree to a deal?

Most of the Sox stories we have free access to are poor AI journalism at best. We see more and more writing that needs proofing.

NBC, which is OWNED by comcast, is on "free tv". same, as abc, cbs, wgn, and pbs. Comcast charges me $25 a month to watch those stations on my xfinity box.
