  • I do not see Robert getting traded, as it would likely mean they sold low on him Sox are better off keeping him and hoping that he rebuilds his trade value

The whole world thought Nick was a high first round pick.  If the Sox didn't select him, someone else would have.  The Sox failed in developing him.  Luis Arraez and Kwan show you that it CAN be done

If they are getting two top guys they want, just eat the money and be done with it.

A 1:1 deal achieves nothing.

That’s not necessarily true. Dominguez has significantly more control and is a lot cheaper. That said I’d rather keep Robert for now.

I would do that deal every day of the week

And it’s 2:1 deal with the Sox sending another out.

It achieves getting a player that could contribute to the next possible winning team, which is the whole point. But it doesn’t matter because I don’t see a scenario in which the Yankees would do this.

This was the proposed trade and I would’ve accepted it yesterday…

And we waste 5 years trying to get the other 9 hitters around him.

The rebuild needs foundational pieces, but with the state of the org this scenario seems likely. We’d be looking to trade him for a haul by the time they are decent again.

If you could theoretically get Dominguez for Robert & Eder (which I don’t think is remotely realistic) and then add a couple of positional guys in a Crochet trade (say Mayer & Montgomery from the Red Sox) then is a chance of putting together a competent lineup much sooner.

  • 1B: <Free Agent>
  • 2B: Baldwin# / Ramos
  • SS: Mayer*
  • 3B: Montgomery*
  • LF: Dominguez#
  • CF: <Free Agent>
  • RF: Montgomery#
  • DH: <Free Agent>
  • CA: Quero#

There’s a potential core there with only one premium spot that would liekly require an outside addition, but the margin for error would be thin.  Still I’d take my shot on Dominguez then I hope I can do better in a Robert trade eight months from now.

Why not?  Eder is a just a throw-in.  He’s terrible with a career minor league ERA over 5.  Meanwhile, the Sox would be getting back a top MLB CF prospect for Robert.

The only ones not accepting that deal are the Yankees.

From what I have read, he’s a terrible defender and passable in a corner. I think he’s an inflated Yankee prospect.

Jim Bowden proposal in The Athletic:

White Sox Give:

  • CF Luis Robert

White Sox Get:

  • 3B Cam Collier (20 years old | Y22 1st round pick | #5 org prospect)
  • SS Tyson Lewis (18 years old | Y24 2nd round pick | #9 org prospect)
  • RHP Luke Holman (21 years old | Y24 CB-B pick | #11 to #15 org prospect)

I would accept that offer in a heartbeat.

How does he post that and the Red Sox proposal in the same article (I assume it’s the same).

Same article.  He’s just got very weird views on things and doesn’t understand in the Red Sox deal that we don’t want a bunch of guys under control for four or five years.

Yeah, it’s not like they’re the missing pieces to a team ready to compete. Dumb.

Seems weak to me

Sorry, that’s supposed to be for Robert, which makes a big difference.

Yep, just saw that…and Reds would never do that

Oh I fully agree, but I would if I were the Sox

Reds have made plenty of nonsensical moves so not so sure about that one.

I dont see why rival teams find this position unreasonable. Yeah he had a bad year. We're not asking for 70m or whatever in SV anymore or even 40-50m it seems.

But yeah you will prolly need to give us a single 55 FV player that prolly is worth 30m SV or a little more.

We shouldn't give him away for free.

Where are you getting this from? You don’t know what kind of value they are asking for.
