They can put him on at the start of spring training to open up a 40-man spot. The 60 days would start at the beginning of the season so he would be eligible to come off the IL at the end of May. Agreed, seems like a questionable decision as Marinaccio has actually been a pretty good, albeit unknown reliever in his career. Scholtens was pretty bad last year and he wasn’t even that good in the minors. Another team will snatch Marinaccio up off waivers.
