2025 MLB season...catch-all for non-Sox, non AL-Central

I don't like the idea of the swing off to begin with, but holy crap, what was Aaron Boone thinking sending Aranda up there to be your last hitter when he could have picked Aaron Judge or the guy who won the HR derby the night before?

Did they have to pick players that were still in the game? Only thing that makes no sense because no Ohtani either.

No it could have been anyone on the roster. I saw that some players apparently left already?

Are the Orioles going through what the Sox did in 2023?

Seems that way, but I think they have a more stable young core than the Sox did so their window *should* be open longer than the Sox window was.

But if they don’t invest in pitching, it’s probably all moot.

Brewers have to be early favorite for best org in baseball.

Just look at the relatively tepid numbers for their 1-6 hitters...

Pitching geniuses?

Beyond Miz and Woodruff and Peralta and Priester and Q.

Around 15 pitchers this season with 115+ ERA+ numbers is crazy....has to be one of the top 2-3 bullpens in the game.

Mid level payrolls/strong attendance/one of the smallest tv markets and they almost always make the right calls trading vets at near highs.

The best organization in baseball probably won’t see the second round of the playoffs yet again.

Ken Rosenthal, The Athletic

“I’m here to make a case for the Milwaukee Brewers to add Eugenio Suárez, or at the very least, bullpen help. But first, I’m going to tell on myself:

Shortly after the start of spring training, I wrote the following: “Brewers owner Mark Attanasio keeps getting away with it. His front office is that shrewd, his managers that skilled, his players that devoted to succeeding as underdogs.”

Nope. The Padres were all-in, later adding Ryan O'Hearn and Ramon Laureano from the Baltimore Orioles and catcher Freddy Fermin from the Kansas City Royals. Just like that, the Padres addressed all three of their glaring holes -- left field, DH and catcher -- while also adding one of the game's premier relievers. Indeed, already possessing arguably the game's best bullpen, the Padres now look like the team you won't want to play in October, when they'll run out one dominant reliever after another, inning after inning. The offense is now improved as well. Of course, they still have to get to the postseason, but this is a team that now looks capable of chasing down the Los Angeles Dodgers for the NL West title, which San Diego last won in 2006.

LF DH C were their obvious offensive holes.

Now they have the best bullpen in the game for two consecutive years down the stretch.

"Yes, Miller is amazing, but you know who else might be amazing? De Vries, a switch-hitting shortstop who might have the highest ceiling of any player in the minor leagues. The A's loved Miller, but this was likely not a hard decision for a team prioritizing its future years in Las Vegas over its Sacramento present. Get ready for the Leo de Vegas shirts.

Thursday might have been the apex of Preller as a concept; he has never been shy about trading high-ceiling prospects when a star is on the table. From Thursday morning to Thursday afternoon, the Padres traded away 13 prospects for Miller, designated hitter Ryan O'Hearn, outfielder Ramon Laureano, infielder Will Wagner and starting pitcher Nestor Cortes Jr.

These were not insignificant prospects, either."

Braves beat Reds in extras

Per Elias Sports, it was only the third time in MLB history that both teams scored at least eight runs in the same inning, joining a Detroit Tigers-Texas Rangers game on May 8, 2004, and a Chicago White Sox-New York Yankees game on Aug. 2, 2007.

No more runs came in the ninth, sending the game to extras, in which the Braves prevailed via a sacrifice fly from Marcell Ozuna in the 10th. Braves closer Raisel Iglesias prevented the ghost runner from scoring to deny the Reds their best win of the year.

It all made for a fun win probability chart...

5 walk off wins across the league tonight.

That 17-16 Rockies walk-off was their second of the season.

Giants, Red Sox tied for first with 9 walk-offs each.

Every team has at least 2 now, including the Sox with 3.

...Except the O's who have somehow yet to get their first 110 games in (54 at home).

Kyle Stowers putting up some crazy numbers...

Wildest thing to me is that all 24 of his HR are vs RHP. Seems extreme even for a big splits guy, typically if you're strong enough for 30+ you would knock out a couple vs. same sided pitching (see: Colson).

Headed to T-Mobile park to see the Mariners and Rangers today. Pretty fun Seattle team with a TON of power now that they added Naylor and Suarez. Interested to see how that plays in their massive stadium.

Padres decided that Leo de Vries wasn't going to be able to stick at SS and would have to eventually move to 3B 1B DH.

That simple.

Cronenworth C.J.Abrams Tatis Merrill Machado Bogaerts X.Edwards...their five year history at that spot.

We shall just have to wait and see how his frame fills out.

Just like detractors of Preller are waiting for Miller's elbow to blow up.

Risk/reward.

Ofc the other factor to consider was they traded him to an American League team...
