To be honest, the dream is Ishbia coming in, building a beautiful new park at the 78, and having a couple mega free agents to supplement young core.  I love going to the Rate but it’s time for a new,

Also, Liu Yifei was just here in Wuhan (her hometown) at the Louis Vuitton store in the same mall recently...shopping for family and friends while the entire store was closed down just for her.

Also the birthplace of the Coronavirus!

This also highlights the reality of owning a sports team. Your investment isn't dependent so much on the standings. Many of the investors are just looking for an opportunity to increase their net worth.

Most at this point, inherited their shares, and would rather just have the money. Part owner of the White Sox doesn’t have the same cache it had 20 years ago.

If the article quote about the price of limited share prices doubling in a couple of years is accurate, Jerry’s fiduciary duty is more than covered.

I don't agree with this.  If Jerry has a side deal to sell new shares then he needs to make the current group "whole".  Telling the current holders to sell at $1.8B valuation isn't doing that, when he's on record that it will be worth twice that much in 2 years.

I still think someone was misquoted (Reifort talking out of his ass again) and Ishbia is just buying out all the rest of the investors (maybe including Mellody).

They deleted the diluted word from the original article. They aren’t creating new shares, just offering that amount for anyone who wants out.

At least this means the Clevinger friend will be gone.

He will probably have him over for a caps and stems, bumps and bats party celebrating his windfall.

The article stated the price doubled since their last offering by JR and the kids.  It is also near the full market value for the team, even when including the non-voting consideration.

This seems like strong evidence that a full sale comes a bit down the line. Perhaps sooner than later even.

I said this last year when they announced massive payroll cuts, putting Getz in as GM (which to me seems like a temp move, where a new owner can go in a different direction) and the new stadium, it's obvious that they (the Reinsdorfs) are selling the team

They're not building another arena, stop with the nonsense. Wintrust is the perfect size for the Sky.

I was about to say. It’s also a relatively new facility. And if the Sky needed a bigger space, the UC could accommodate summer WNBA games without needing a separate stadium build.

This eliminates the stadium funding side then. This is just a formal buyout and sale.

There must have been a lot of investors telling JR it’s time He’s gone from telling us his son will be forced to sell to out of towners because he owes the investors the best deal,, and that is not in this area, to this. LOL.

Everything he says publicly these days feels like a leverage play.

Jason could still get the ball rolling on that though, hopefully. Especially if they want out by 29 or whenever it is.

Without getting ahead of ourselves I would guess yes.

I was not actually making fun of Tray there. I thought the same thing at the beginning of the thread.

I generally think it's good news but you're dealing with JR and a guy who just used the Twins to get a good position to own the Sox. Being level headed is prudent.

But sure making fun of people makes you cool and funny I suppose if you're in 3rd grade.

The illusion of stadium leverage...all vestiges are gone.  Other than the hope and promise of new higher-spending ownership delivering a better product on the field.

Whoever it is...they're going to have to put in at least 50-65% of the money. At least.

"Reinsdorf has given his blessing to Ishbia’s plan to buy out other minority partners, the New York Times reported Friday, but the team denied that any long-term agreement has been reached to give the brothers a controlling interest.

For the Twins, Ishbia’s decision removes one potential bidder from the process, which the Pohlad family, which has owned the Twins since 1984, initiated in October. The franchise is believed to be worth at least $1.5 billion, but no other potential bidders have been publicly identified."
