March 8, 20251 yr Author I have learned things today. Thank you. Can't go to the 15 since there's no 26 man roster, can't go to the 60 unless you're replacing them on the 40 man

I thought the whole idea of the 60 day IL/DL (when did they change the name and why, did Gatorade have a hand in this) was to take the guy off the 40man roster without burning an option or accruing service time. The team takes a risk that the player is healthy before 60 days, but that’s clearly not the case with Tommy John. Seemed to me like a very team-friendly thing. I guess it’s practically the same thing, you don’t want an injured player taking up a spot when someone else could do it, and why stay at 39. I might be mistaken on the rule, but my thinking is this injury doesn’t affect Berroa’s standing with the team, it just puts it on pause for a year. Probably not ideal for him, but I’d like to see what he’s got.

April 20, 2025Apr 20 Did not see it mentioned anywhere here, but according to Sox transactions page, they did bring Juan Carela back in a minors deal. Which is good news.

That unfortunately didn't age well, looks like he's done for the year if they had to automatically move him to the 60 day IL.
