Sox at Guards

Far too many cases for it to be a fluke.

I mean even when we were trying to compete we had half a rotation and a middling bullpen. I think it's just opportunity cost mostly. Actual teams aren't trying these guys out because of the real downside risk. We don't mind that risk of course and can benefit from positive percentile outcomes. I see no reason to think it's some sort of secret sauce.

Smith days in Milwaukee are over 😂

Remember, the Brewers chose not to protect him and then had to sign Quintana late in the offseason for rotation depth.  Brewers front office should be cursing themselves.

Meanwhile, that was the quickest half inning ever.

Hell of an outing.

I'd feel a lot better about the future if the Sox could develop some hitters to go with these pitchers. Godspeed Mr. Fuller.

Well said, I think most of the offensive contributors are gonna have to come from next few drafts

Too soon to start dreaming on a Schultz/Taylor/Smith/Smith rotation?

Only if Getz can build a lineup that can give them more than 2-3 runs of support per game.

They can't go pitcher again this draft right? Though that's what I said last year too.

Only if you are into losing 2-0, 3-1.   Too many holes and then trading those pitchers to fill them.  In that case it would be nice to get a young player who wont be exposed to the Sox farm system.

I think leaning into their org strengths developing pitching to flip it for hitting would be reasonable. But would you expect them to hit on the right trades? Of course not.

which exposes the major weakness of scouting - even if they can hit, they can't catch a baseball or are baseball stupid

the problem is a cheap ass owner

Yeah I used to think that but I don’t trust their scouting at all of minor leaguers

Player development is a huge part of it too

Agreed, but far too often we’ve seen them get guys that couldn’t be developed by some of the best organizations in baseball.
