Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.

Recommended Posts

if I had to choose which situation is worse, holding on to Robert or trade him for trash  id say the latter as we still technically own him for 2 more years in scenario 1

Well, if Robert keeps hitting the way he has for the past few weeks, he may get some value back by the off-season. I guess he's also playing for another $20 million, so you'd think that would be enough motivation for him to not suck.

If he is still on the roster as of the deadline, then it means they got the OK to pick it up.

You are making a major assumption here sir.

I guess we will see come October.

Part of me would like to see it since that would mean JR had a serious change of heart and could portend some unexpected off season moves.

But frankly, based on history, I can't see JR doing so.

In which case this would be an incredible gaff by Getz and the organization.

Like I said time will tell.

Robert is at .353/.441/.549 over the last month, so I’m not upset that he’s staying. Hopefully he keeps it up for the rest of the year and they pick up his option.

The only way that happens is if the Sox pick up the 20 million dollar option. If not he's free to go to whomever he wants and the Sox get nothing.

Robert might as well be signed to an extension lol.

Let's do another Kimbrel to Pollock to Benintendi while Rodon walks out the door for nothing in return.

Comic AL franchise.

Feel a bit sorry for Robert he won't ever realize his potential while in his prime with a real big league team...

LoL.

For the equivalent of AJ Pollock.

If if if.

He should just deliberately tank like Moncada last year so he can go anywhere he wants as a FA in the off season...

Then that begs the question because of his salary will the Sox have to actually kick in money to move him?

And if he gets hurt or slumps the final two months what then?

I’m with you, I don’t see how they pick that option up with the risk involved. I think they fully intended to trade him, played hardball, and everyone went to other options leaving them with nothing.

I’ll gladly admit I was wrong if that option gets exercised.

JR is never going to do that...doesn't matter if they are down to a $50-60 million payroll.

Same here although like Caulfield pointed out we'd have to see what happens then as he remembered the Kimbrel/Pollock debacle.

I'm actually surprised no other team viewed him as the deadline wildcard he could have been.

Ishbia certainly isn't even dumb enough to write a $22 million check for a highly demotivated Robert.

He can just DeWanna Bonner (WNBA) his way off the team and join any organization he wants next season on a one year FA contract Hays Austin Hays signed with Cincy.

He doesn't need the money like Rodon did in 2021/22.

Like the Dodgers...Conforto has been a massive disappointment.

Getz overvalued him compared to Mullins and Philly decided they could live with Marsh and some minor tweaks.

I’m rolling with Luis. Send him to whoever got Colson back on track.

he's slashing .353/.441/.549 in 15 games (July)... Seems he's getting there already

Do you remember couple years when this board really thought he was the answer?

Same, especially since he’s been good lately. Guessing the offers were all mediocre and I don’t think you move a guy who could end up around 2 fWAR if he stays productive for anything that isn’t going to contribute.

Interested to see if any of the offers leak.

Schiffren will be happy at least...

Maybe knocking down all of the 2019-2021 core in the press and all those background noise rumors about work ethic and coachability came back to bite them???

At least Vaughn was able to escape.

Sunk cost fallacy.

See Kimbrel, Craig.
