Someone will happily take on his salary…let’s get crazy here.

Why is it crazy? He’s making $15M this year and also has a $2M buyout of next year’s $20M. He’s got a .552 OPS this season and is effectively a 0 WAR player over the past 1.5 seasons that also has an  extensive history of injuries but now has significant performance concerns even when healthy. Truly, I don't think many teams would touch the guy at his current salary.

Anyone who thinks Tony LaRussa brought anything positive to this organization this time around is truly derranged.

  • I may be in the minority but I have no issue with them keeping Luis. They have nothing committed to payroll next year and no one knocking at the door to be an every day CFer. Also, I would consider ke

  • Oh no. Chris Getz maybe asked for a desirable target in trade negotiations. It's truly unfortunate dialogue ends completely after one player is inquired about.

I know this guy may not be credible but had to share for the weird phrasing on "contingent that the Mets also receive Lenyn Sosa. Like, contingent to who? lol

I read that as "we'll take Robert's salary off of your hands  only if you throw in Sosa."

Yikes!

Yikes!

Instead of taking Adams or Jordan Guerrero...we'll take Tatis Jr. and give you the privilege of paying off 60% of James Shields' salary Instead.

Don't even care about Sosa, but this would be hilarious. (Note they already have Acuna and Baty who can play second.)

And a $2 million buyout.

Why does this matter?  A big market club will 100% take a flier on him if the prospect cost is little to nothing.  Won’t help us, but doesn’t change the reality of the situation.

Is there even a big market club that doesn’t already have a better performing CF than Robert?

Honestly, the way I interpreted his comment was if he was too valuable to trade at 4 years control left he would probably still be at minimum as valuable with 3 years control left but an increase in production. Which makes sense to me.

Yep, this was pretty much what I was trying to say.

'May not be credible' is far too kind.

Mets have no need for Sosa, and I'm not sure Robert is even an upgrade over Tyrone Taylor in CF right now. And the idea that they wouldn't trade for Robert if they couldn't get Sosa as well is laughable.

I'm sure the team has tried numerous things to get Luis Robert Jr  hitting again. Nothing  has worked. It seems  to me that he had more success as a hitter when he was just know as Luis Robert. Perhaps he should drop the Jr from his name.

Or maybe he should go by Louie Roberts as Plesac was calling him the last 6 games

Considering Robert is ranked #18 out of 18 qualified CFs in mlb per fangraphs leads me to think the answer to your question is no. I don’t think many people here have fully acknowledged that Robert with his contract/remaining commitments is bordering on being a negative value, forget surplus.

Don't worry guys, the trade details are being ironed out now

The real boss is here.

A .552 OPS with only two months left until the trade deadline.   Nice to see the Sox so quickly prioritized this meeting.

If Tauchman can stay healthy, he might be a pretty good trade chip come the deadline. He also has an extra of control.

He does?

Yeah he’s still in arbitration. I checked Baseball Reference to confirm that. He kinda broke out later and spent a year oversea.

But also, I guess we thought Flexen did too and then he didn’t so take what I say with a grain of salt I guess haha

The idiots on espn baseball tonight, which I swore I would never again watch, had a trading deadline segment in which Tim Whatshisname said that Louis Roberts will be traded to a contender. Click.

This Robert scenario with him going through an intense hitting course had me thinking what the hell goes on in Spring Training, Robert has been bad for over 2 years, why weren’t  his hitting woes addressed down in Arizona, instead they let him stink up the joint for 2 months with hoping because it’s a new season a miracle would occur with Robert his old self. Also they had the whole winter to try to fix him.

He was destroying the ball in Arizona, wasn't he?
