Anyone who thinks Tony LaRussa brought anything positive to this organization this time around is truly derranged.

  • Oh no. Chris Getz maybe asked for a desirable target in trade negotiations. It's truly unfortunate dialogue ends completely after one player is inquired about.

reinsdorf must be panicking right now 🤣

And then get injured early next year and miss most of the season

Better yet, he gets injured in the next week and doesn't get the option picked up.

You saw the Cease trade and thought Getz was a good negotiator?

If Reinsdorf 100 percent wanted him gone, he would be gone for literally anything.

Watch them not trade him and then not pick up the option

If that happens, Getz should be fired right after giving Robert his $2 million dollar buyout.  Not that Jerry would do that.

If true, what a joke

I may be in the minority but I have no issue with them keeping Luis. They have nothing committed to payroll next year and no one knocking at the door to be an every day CFer. Also, I would consider keeping him through the end of his contract. If they aren’t contending for the division in 2 years with the talent they have already acquired then what was the point of it all. And if the offers are crap why would you move him for the hope that some of the players even make the majors let alone have the defensive and base running ability Luis has.

I mean, if the return is similar to what the Twins got for Bader I'm holding onto him too.

So he may only realize his true value around July of 2027?

I will also note that at the very least, not dealing him over last winter with the Cincy offer looks a lot worse in hindsight.  I won't even go back how 2023 looks.

I believed until Cam Booser.

Drew Thorpe's 85 mph fastball will make Crochet look like a journeyman.

(Fathom you know I've hated his negotiating skills all along)

I think this is a smart way for the Sox to do it. As much as I loathed Robert for most of this year - you shouldn't settle for a package that does nothing for you since he isn't a true rental player.

I would like off of the ride now please and thank you

Hold firm, Chris! Can always charge your mind at 455 if better offers don't come.

At some point you have to realize you aren’t getting what you could have gotten for Robert after 2023.  Two garbage seasons in a row will do that to a player’s value.

Pickup the option, pay down most of it for 2026 and dangle him as a guy under contract through rest of this year and next with an option for 2027. #ishbiamoneyinfusion

I agree with this.  Someone mentioned this elsewhere, but if you let him go, are you gonna go pay Bader 14 million next year to play CF?  They have nothing in the CF pipeline.

The only thing that could happen at this deadline to make me think Getz is completely clueless is if Houser isn't moved. I'm not very comfortable holding on to LouBob but the potential upside of trading him seems so small that I can at least see the logic of holding on especially if ownership has signaled comfort with his option.

Hopefully he keeps performing how he has the past few weeks or so and they deal him in the offseason.

LOL I'd love to know what team out there, looking to acquire Robert, wouldn't be willing to pay him 20 million when the White Sox are willing to do so.

Especially if he continues to do what he is doing throughout the 2nd half. It'd be a bargain and a half.

The White Sox simply gambled on the wrong guy. They could have gotten a good haul for Robert this past off-season but they decided to trade Crochet instead. If they held Crochet until deadline and traded Robert, they'd be in an incredible position and would have acquired a lot more prospect capital. Timing is as important to trades as anything else in the process.

Our payroll for next year is also nothing basically
