2 different Sox insiders tonight have both hinted at new White Sox ownership news coming out soon, and the fact that neither of them seems to be hinting at Jerry giving up control is concerning. But clarity is still welcomed.

It sure sounds like it will be Ishbia but Jerry keeps control for now.

Nbb also thinks the Sox might stay at the 35th location

Building a new stadium there, or staying at the Rate? If they are staying at the Rate, I hope they are doing some massive upgrades/basically making it look new.

I'm not saying he knows nothing, but he's been wrong plenty of times before... like when he said hiring Getz wasn't happening and didn't make sense.

“News coming out soon.” Soon can mean anything from “in a week or two” to “in a month or two” or soon could mean six months from now or soon could mean in a year or two. Soon doesn’t necessarily mean “real” soon.

They should renew the sweetheart deal to stay at 35th and Shields, with the caveat / benefit to the state that they can sell off / develop some of the parking lots for development.

Like I have been saying for months, the most likely scenario is clear.  Jerry does the s%*# kicking, Ishbia keeps clean, win/win.  Dude has his succession plan in place

I hope they don't remove the parking lots at the Rate. Its one of the reasons I go there. The parking lots are great.

Can they start spending some form of money soon, at least?

I doubt they do anything until three big things happen.

- They get a TV contract in place.  This is probably a 50/60 million dollar revenue hole from last year, which still isn't counting attendance, other advertising, merchandise, parking, and everything else that has plummeted by huge numbers.  Last year was their worse season since their 2nd to last year in old Comiskey.  This year is 8% worse PLUS the non-existent TV money.

-They have time to make up some of the recent missing revenue from said contract, plus the years of straight listed losses.

-They have a team worth adding to.

News will definitely come out in Nightengale's Sunday Column.

The state legislature is supposed to meet in May to vote on the stadium funding issue.

Uh oh...here we go again.

Maybe someone should interview Ishbia on this topic?

Why? Ishbia has no power to prevent the WSox and ISFA from signing a long term Lease at 35th street that would allow the Sox to remain at Rate field for a decade or more, and, if they can obtaining financing or public funding, build a new stadium and sell excess land to private developers. That would be a win-win for the Sox and IL taxpayers and any future owner.

The Sox locked into a bad location in one of the worst rated stadiums in baseball would be a win for the Sox.  I won't even touch on your pretending to have inside information to a set of negotiations which you aren't privy to.

Another intentional lie.
